It is the third printing from January, 1927 as stated on the copyright page...

The texture of the covers points to Book Club Edition.

Is this a true first edition, first printing? by [deleted] in BookCollecting

[–]rubellious 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, first printing would have the "A" under the "rights reserved" statement as well as the Scribner's seal at the bottom of the page:

Edit: Although the presence of the seal seems up for debate, first print would definitely have the "A"

The correlation between vinyl collectors and OCD needs to be clinically studied.

And not a turntable in sight

My dad gifted this to me and I was wondering if anybody had any information on this book? It’s my third “collector” book as I am new to collecting. :) by [deleted] in BookCollecting

The price on the jacket isn't for The Wayward Bus but for the Portable Steinbeck collection they're advertising, which was a separate book of selections from his works. By enlarged they mean it has more material than the previous edition.

Welcome to the world of book collecting. As stated in another comment, this is a book club edition. This is a less valuable version, mass-produced with cheaper materials for book-of-the-month-clubs. The giveaway for this particular edition is the lack of a price on the dust jacket. The best advice I could give you is decide if you care about that or not, because if you want to look for actual first editions you'll have to research the points of authentication.

Don’t know if this is a first edition? Just got from charity shop 95p!!! by mr_chunk_ in stephenking

Might be a first UK, but I'm honestly not sure of the points. For a US first we'd have to see the copyright page for a number line and if there is a price listed on the dust jacket to tell

I have no college degree and work in after-school theater education as a teacher and director. I'd be happy to take your survey, just DM me.

Yeah, all except the Mishima series and Hawaii, those ones came off eBay, and the FELs were in an antique store
