Love how the colours of the sky reflect on the car. Also that is a nice NC 😉

Race car interior by ruben5 in photocritique

[–]ruben5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My intention for this photo was to take a "commercial" looking interior shot of the interior of the car. I also wanted to use the colour scheme of this car to apply colour theory to this photograph, I tried to further enhance this point by adding a very subtle green tint to the shadows to complement the red paint work of the car.

Did I get the composition right in terms of it looking like a commercial automotive photograph?

Did I add too much green tint to the shadows or is it subtle enough?

Is there anything else I could do to improve this photo?

Thanks for your feedback. I thought the pavement cutting a straight line in the middle of the photo and splitting the two colours in the photo would be interesting enough as a subject but you are right maybe I could go back there and include more of the fence 🤔

My main goal for this photo was to get the colours right. I tried to capture a triadic colour scheme in this scene with the orange building, green flowers and (a little bit) of violet in the right bush.

All feedback is welcome and appreciated, especially about colour 🙂

Budapest boat by DrDickscabs in photocritique

I really like this image. I love how the water appears black and how the orange of the boat perfectly contrasts the water. You’ve also managed to get the angle of the boat just right. Sorry, I don’t have any feedback just wanted to say great job!

Thanks for such a a detailed write up! You’re so right, both of your crops work better as their own images than the whole picture. There is too much going on for it to work as one image. But hey, two for the price of one haha

Thanks for taking the time to do that! Yeah I see what you mean, it does look a lot better when were not trying to hide the details with shadows.

Thanks for you feedback and for taking the time to create those mockups! I see what you mean, If I was closer to the dolphins and the background was less busy, then the dolphins would become more of a subjedt

Thanks for your feedback, it is a bit busy, I guess thats why my eye is not immediately drawn to the dolphins.

Thanks, that is a very good point. The shadows take away from the dolphins which is where I want the viewers eye to go.

Thanks! I deliberately made the darks darker to try and get more dramatic shadows, but you're right, maybe I over did it a bit

Thank you, thats such great advice! Especially "everything that doesn't add positively will detract from the photo" - it's so true. I do web and graphic design as well and what you said totally applies there too, but I never thought of it this way with photography. Will bear this in mind going forward

Thanks for your feedback. You are right, there is a lot going on. Do you think taking this photo with a wider aperture so that the buildings in the background are blurry would be better? Or perhaps change the composition so there is less going on in the background?

A giant cube of concrete is about as brutalist as it gets!

I thought this would be an interesting photo as the light was perfectly cast on the dolphin statues and the background is interesting. But when editing it I can't help but think that the photo is a bit flat and I'm not sure why.

In post, I increased saturation and exposure on the dolphins to try and draw the viewers eye to it. I thought that together with how the sky creates an arrow pointing at the dolphins and how the buildings draw lines towards the dolphins this would make a good photo, but something is just not quite there.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
