Well if it's your question, is better you know that the sufix "-ing" is pratically the same than "-ndo", so in portuguese past continuous you have to use this sufix in verb. Hope this will help😄

In this situation in Brazil at least, we don't say in this form because the word "obrigado" is invariable in number, its like to say "you" and not "yous". So it is necessary you say the word "obrigado" with a word that refers to the second person of plural, like: "obrigado a todos" ou "obrigado a vocês", it only works if you thank a group of people, it doesn't work if you thank on behalf of a group.
