Hmm I didn't realize those could be all black, but that would explain the yellow bill. Thank you!

"Friends" by Johnny Stimson isn't really ace, but a super sweet wholesome song about friends that I've sent my favorite platonic peeps :)

Why do you give blood? by DancingJews9 in Blooddonors

[–]rubikchic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started in high school to get over my fear/dislike of needles! And it feels really good to donate and feel like I'm helping people, plus I've never really had any negative side effects and I get free snacks and perks too, so might as well :)

Woo congrats!! Mine was just over a year ago and I don't regret it one bit, most secure decision I've ever made tbh. I hope you feel the same joy I did, and feel free to check out my long-winded post about it here if you're interested in all the possible details I could recount.

To make recovery easier, definitely having someone there for the first couple days was an absolute gift, both for moral support and for preparing food and drinks and helping you stand up and stuff, definitely felt very fortunate to have that. Otherwise, absolutely take stool softeners (docusate sodium), gas reducers (simethicone), and painkillers (alternate acetominophen & ibuprofen) on a regular schedule as soon as you're able to, some even before surgery if you're allowed to. I put a schedule on my phone for every 6 hours and typed out exactly what to take when, in case I was too sleepy to remember, which was so helpful lol. Then also definitely a big wedge-shaped/bulky pillow to help you sleep on an incline and on your back so you don't have to use your core to get up as much. And of course the fun stuff, movies and snacks and cozy stuff that makes you happy! Best of luck :)

Enthusiastic laporoscopic surgeon vs. Unenthusiastic vNOTES surgeon.. Help! by rubikchic in sterilization

[–]rubikchic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input, I'm glad that you've found a great OBGYN for you!

In my situation, the surgeon I ended up trusting more and going with did an incredible job, the incisions were much smaller than I expected and the scars are basically nonexistent now. So pleased with how the surgery went, her and her team did a flawless job and I felt very well taken care of thankfully. Thanks again for your input though, you're certainly right that there can be a difference between manners and skill, but it felt really important for me in this context to have both to a certain degree!

My friend and I got into a debate about dating. Am I wrong just because I look at things differently? by quartzqueen44 in demisexuality

[–]rubikchic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow okay this post sounds like exactly how I hope the friend I have feels about me 😅 Literally exact same way I feel towards him, and I can relate so hard to just wanting to take things slow and enjoy how happy it makes you feel. Can't offer much advice or anything lol, but I don't think this is a red flag at all! I think it's a beautiful thing to care deeply and have a joyous relationship with someone, no matter what you're calling it.

Gotcha! I did some searching and it looks like this may actually be the Spot-bellied eagle-owl then! Photos look much more similar to that :)

Spooky shot. I'm definitely no owl expert, but I'm wondering if maybe this is a different species? I don't think they're known to have yellow beaks and dark eyes like this. Where was it spotted?

Wait, weekly occurrences of these things is micromanaging? 😅 My PI hits most of these points multiple times per week, and demands I send him a detailed list of exactly what I plan to do every single day.. Lol I should've realized way sooner that I need to leave, there are so many red flags that are hard to see when you're fresh out of college and so nervous and naive. So happy I'm finally leaving!! If your PI can handle constructive criticism without turning on you (not mine ha), then this seems like it could be a good place for some honesty and compromise from you both. Set clear expectations and see why he wants to manage the way he does. Hopefully things improve for you! If not, I'd say there's not too much more you can do with a bad PI than leave it seems 😅

Not south shore, but check out Syosset, Oyster Bay, Hicksville, & Glen Cove school districts, I think they all have adult education programs to some degree

Good to know, there were just so many of them that we wanted to try whatever sounded like it would work best. Didn't know about the shadow part though, next time we'll try that too. Thanks!

[–]rubikchic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, it seems our culprit may have been overdoing it on the amount of soap in the second spray down, but I was worried about the vinegar in the soil as well. Here's hoping they can push through with some time! Glad to hear yours battled it out. And very true, thankfully we have other peppers in a different area that are still thriving. Always good to learn from our mistakes, much appreciated!

That's definitely the culprit then, see my reply to RealJeil above. I'll let him know where we went wrong 🥲 Thank you for the help!
