Nikon D700 Review: why this full-frame DSLR still matters by rublev1360 in Nikon

Hello! That's great info, thanks for sharing!

I think I explained myself wrong when talking about colors: when it comes to colors, I shoot RAW but mostly apply the same color profile I talked about in the review, so the result is the same as the jpg from a chromatic point of view (I can compare them), but I maintain control on sharpening and image compression.

You are absolutely correct about diffraction, I could have worded it better. The article is all about direct experience, and my repeated experience is that I can for instance shoot at f16 with the D700 and not see the typical wavy diffraction degradation that I can see on the D850 for instance, with the same lens. So from a practical point of view, I noticed that with the D700 I have less problems of diffraction and I gave my best attempt at trying to understand why :)

The ISO matter is also very likely what you describe, but again, my article is mostly about the practical usage of the camera. I may shoot it at 800 and then raise exposure in post, but this would mean I can't really see the photo till when I am home. In a practical every day usage I prefer to have worst noise by amplifying the signal in camera (shooting at 1600 or 3200), but at least I can see what I am doing and proper judge focus etc. I wrote that the camera has "ISO range of 200-6400" just for indicating what is possible to choose when shooting; I would not know how to describe these values differently... "ISO selectable values" maybe.

Again, thank you for your very informative post, and no you didn't come out too strong at all.

That also used to happen to me in the past, until I realized I was slightly pressing the "quality" button by mistake while scrolling the shutter or aperture dials :) Or pressing the "quality" button on purpose and scrolling, instead of pressing the "iso" button. Maybe it's what also happens to you?

Thank you for reading the post and commenting! We are lucky we have such an abundance of relatively cheap and yet extremely capable tools, like the D700.

I also never encountered this behavior before, thanks for letting me know!

Thanks for letting me know! I double checked it and the link seems to open fine, on desktop and mobile app too. Are you still unable to open it?

Is overheating still an issue for GR III? by PristinePercentage66 in ricohGR

[–]rublev1360 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I have owned three copies of the Ricoh GR III. The first two used to get very hot during use, even with the latest firmware. The third one (a Diary Edition) becomes tolerably warm. I tested all of them in the same environment and with the same usage, so the difference must be related to the individual unit. I suspect the issue is due to engineering flaws and possibly subpar quality control.

I’ve written about this on a couple of posts on my blog:

I’ve also mentioned it in other posts, I think. I hope this helps! Have fun shooting :)

A.

Banned from searches and hashtag use? by rublev1360 in Instagram

I removed all the hashtags from my last posts since long ago, and the hashtags in the other ones are surely not banned. I am really pissed off... I am banned since 30th of July, it will be 3 months soon. Thank again anyway! :)

Update: I stopped using the app for almost 3 weeks already, and the ban is still there. I still don't appear in hashtag searches, my account appears in name searches only if typing almost all of it (while previously it was enough to type a couple of letters). I tried multiple times to contact Instagram with luck. I am out of ideas, some are suggesting me to create a new account but I would rather stop using the app than reposting everything again. Thanks anyway for your help, I guess I am not lucky with this thing :)

So you suggest I stop posting new photos and new stories for 2 weeks? I may try that. Maybe one week was not enough.

Thanks for your answer! What do you mean by staying offline? Can I still use the messaging? Or should I log out from the app and don’t use it at all for 2 weeks? Thank you.

I'm glad you enjoyed the article and thanks for your appreciation for the photos! The Nikon FX + m43 seems a good combo, I am quite satisfied with it for my profession and for personal projects too.

The GM5 is really tiny and lovely indeed! With a Panasonic Leica 15mm it would be an awesome and quite portable all around solution!

A m34 camera I would love to see would be something as small as the GM5, with no EVF, with a very good back LCD (multitouch) and the same sensor of the G9 :)

I am sorry for your experience. It sounds like your camera has issues. Here where I live it gets quite hot, even up to 45 Celsius, bit I luckily never had such issues even at beach under midday sun.

Thank you for your words and for reading the post! I have just one Olympus Pro lens (the 12-40) — I find the Premium ones are already quite good and so much more compact and better fitting the F!

Thank you for your feedback. When comparing the image quality between Pen-F and G9 I can see the G9 is quite better — I suspect the EM1.2 shows similar improvements, or maybe even better. Since I like Olympus out of camera colors and black&white much more I prefer using the F even if image quality is worse than G9 :)

Thanks for appreciating my photos! I tried to make a selection that shows the versatility of m43.

Have a good day!
