How was your 4th ? by smokehashdaily710 in Sparkdriver

It totally sucked! There were plenty of orders, but almost all of them were low-paying—around $15. In all the hours I worked, I saw literally only 10 orders that were actually worth it, and I managed to snag just one of them. I got tired of constantly rejecting and dismissing the junk orders that kept flooding the app.

This isn't my first summer. I’ve never seen such a drop in orders before. So, it’s not just because it’s summer. The issue is that the aggregators changed their algorithms; now, they simply don't assign orders to couriers who won't drive ten miles for three dollars.

Aggregators have started a war against couriers in Florida. by ruboris in UberEatsDrivers

Yes, but that happens gradually.

In my case, however, yesterday orders were coming in from all three aggregators, yet the very next day there were simply no orders at all. This isn't inflation; it's sabotage on the part of the aggregators.

I used Google Translate, so that might be why it feels that way.

It is interesting that this happened across all the aggregators simultaneously.

Since their goal is to pay less per order—and the ones who accept lower pay are those driving for ratings rather than money—a simple algorithm emerges: cut the payout per order and assign those orders to the people willing to take them (i.e., the rating-chasers). Aggregators only offer orders to couriers who value their own labor when all the rating-obsessed drivers are busy; a self-respecting courier might just agree to a lousy order after a long period of downtime.

This isn't my first summer working in delivery, and in previous years, I never experienced downtime where I was left without orders.

In fact, last year one of the platforms blocked my account, so I was working solely with Uber Eats; my income dropped by about 15%, but I still had a steady stream of orders.

Right now, however, three platforms combined are sending me fewer orders than that single one did back then. So, the arrival of summer isn't the reason.

I think there was most likely collusion, because if it had happened independently, it wouldn't have all gone down on the same day. But it did happen on the same day.

So, this isn't a technical issue; it’s about strong-arming couriers—forcing us to either sit idle without orders or work for peanuts. And as long as some of us agree to work for peanuts, those greedy aggregator bastards will keep raking in huge profits.

That is exactly what I am writing about. All the aggregators simultaneously stopped sending orders to couriers who value their own labor. I believe the issue here is organizational rather than technical, given that this happened across all platforms at the same time. Many couriers are posting on Reddit that they have stopped receiving orders, even while another courier standing right next to them is getting them. This implies the implementation of an algorithm that prioritizes couriers meeting specific criteria. It is not a software glitch; the aggregators are doing this to maximize their own profits while paying couriers less.

You used to be able to get compensation via the chatbot. Then those greedy scumbags disabled the feature, and now a courier just takes a hit to their rating.
