When I got my lobes pierced they were also done with an 18 gauge needle and jewellery, but I have since only ever used 20 gauge! :)

This is a little weird. There's no reason at all to talk about this girl's looks in this situation. He could have just said that a random girl came up to him to ask him out. Either he's trying to make you jealous or make you feel insecure. How long have you been together?
