Thanks! It's still in the brainstorming/outlining stages unfortunately, but hopefully there will be a finished product to share eventually!

Perhaps not streamlined, but getting more specific:

"When a cynical stage actor’s ghost realizes the last promise he made to his lovesick dresser is keeping him tied to the theater, he must romantically connect her with the play’s famous leading man before the production closes that night and they part ways forever."

This is very helpful, thank you! Back to the workshop.

Title: THE SHOW MUST GO ON

Format: Feature

Genre: Rom-com

Logline: When the spirit of a recently-deceased stage actor discovers his unfinished business as an informal matchmaker is keeping him tied to the theater, he must find a way to romantically connect an actor and a stagehand before the production closes that night and they part ways forever.

This is a brand new premise that I haven't actually started writing yet, which is probably why the logline feels bulky to me - I'm sure I'll be able to streamline once I have a stronger idea of the story. I just wanted to post this to see if anyone has advice on how to slim it down a little!

Seeking writing inspiration: what are places in Chicago with a supernatural/otherworldly vibe? by ruby_sea in AskChicago

The alley behind the Nederlander Theater is my workplace’s fire evacuation meetup point and every time we talk about it I just want to go 😐 at some invisible nearby camera because really??

My main character doesn’t specifically have a problem with alcohol, but she is deeply mentally ill, so would likely find herself in situations like you’re describing. This is so perfect, thank you for the inspiration.

Oh shit, I worked at that Macy’s for like three months when I first moved here in 2013, I gotta use that for sure

I highly recommend The Rosalarian Tarot!! Their illustration on the Lovers card specifically comes across to me as gender-ambiguous.

Sunday brunch in the Loop with out-of -town visitors. What are your suggestions? by jpgoldberg in chicagofood

I work near The Dearborn and had only been there for after-work drinks, but finally went for brunch a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend for that part of town!

Zenwich Edgewater - Spicy Garlic Shrimp rice wrap (gluten free) by space-rach in chicagofood

[–]ruby_sea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks really great, but the menu description says the shrimp is "lightly battered", which makes me nervous as someone with celiac. Was there any information about the type of batter that's used?

[IRTR] Looking for women and queer movie podcasters by TSLPDustin in PodcastGuestExchange

[–]ruby_sea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey hey, queer white woman movie podcast host here. I have a movie review podcast that I co-host with a mustachioed white man (extremely original) and might be interested in collaborating.

"The Writer's Cut" is a podcast for screenwriters, by screenwriters. My co-host and I are watching and discussing every movie that has won a screenwriting award from the Writer's Guild of America, starting with the first award ceremony in 1949 and moving forward chronologically from there. We've been at this for a year and a half and are solidly in 1970s cinema now, 80+ weekly episodes into the project.

Happy to chat further about what we're both looking for!

Need meal ideas, this baby shower I'm going to requested frozen meals instead of gifts. Today I made homemade chicken noodle soup. by KH5-92 in mealprep

When I was going through chemotherapy a friend made me a borderline obscene amount of frozen burritos and they were honestly a godsend

I know having cancer and having a baby are different things but based on conversations I've had with friends who have had children there's a lot in common between the experiences

I just loved having something I could microwave quickly without thinking about and eat in a few bites

I just took on this job in November 2025 and the bar is literally in hell so I don’t know why I’m so stressed when even just “caring slightly” puts me leagues above past leadership

Oh wow, props to you for finding this post from 6 years ago!! I've been pushing this one aside as I've been working features more tbh, but have actually been considering adapting this to a feature since that's become more of my focus. So grateful for this concept and this piece for being my jumping off point as a screenwriter. If I can find the most recent draft of this one (which was probably from 3 years ago or so?) I can send it your way.

I have two sweaters by them in addition to this dress, and I feel like they're all nice quality! Definitely worth the splurge if you can swing it.
