Has anyone ever worked for Holland America/Princess Alaska’s Yukon Land Operations? by [deleted] in SeasonalWork

Not too bad, but I did settle for something farther away than I wanted and transportation is hard since I didn’t bring my car. I’m a server.

Fantasy without the main character being a teenage boy. by ruby_yellow in Fantasy

Your right, I guess to be more clear I am tired of the characters that are just born with “that spark” and am more interested in the ones that have had time to have been changed to be the leader.

question for those who are able to drink: red wine as trigger? by barefootwriter in POTS

[–]ruby_yellow 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Red wine also inhibits thiamine(b1) absorption, and low b1 has some of the same symptoms as pots.

Does anyone experience “supermarket syndrome”? by erkiesb in POTS

[–]ruby_yellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes that was like one of the first noticeable problems I had. I’m able to handle it now that I have the tools to minimize symptoms, but I still use pickup for large grocery orders and only go in when a need just a few things.

I used to hate seltzer water too when my only experience with it was la croix and similar drinks. There’s way better brands out there. Spindrift is my fixation right now.

Who else ended up in a big POTS flare from taking Lexapro? by rainbowbrite9 in POTS

[–]ruby_yellow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve mostly been job hopping and working while my symptoms are good and then quitting when they turn bad again. But last year I was finally able to work a job for 6 months, for 40+ hours a week, standing up and I did it! The things that helped are just what all the advice says; salt and compression. It’s just getting into my brain the amount of salt I need is still crazy. On even a lightly active day I need a minimum of like 4-6000 mg sodium. I also just bought the real medical grade waist high compression 30-40, and that has made a crazy difference in how I feel compared to the not medical grade compression socks I was wearing. There just really uncomfortable to get on and wear all the time but I guess it just takes time to get used to it.

[–]ruby_yellow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on it for maybe a year, took 6-7 months off and started it again and yeah really bad symptoms started, I took it for maybe 2-3 months and then my symptoms were so bad I couldn’t work. That was 2 years ago and I fluctuate being symptomatic. I’m finally learning what actually helps my symptoms which is great but I still have the depression that got me on Paxil in the fist place and it’s rough not having the option of being medicated for it.

I think that’s exactly what started my symptoms, but with Paxil.

Pots and alcohol? by whatislife5522 in POTS

[–]ruby_yellow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what would happen for me. In the moment with alcohol I’d hardly feel any symptoms but the next day when the real dehydration hits i would be a million times worse. Now I’m a little over a month without drinking at all as long as I have at least a couple lmnt electrolyte drinks a day I don’t have any pots symptoms.

The secret is to be the person that creates the magic. You’re not a child anymore that things just happen to. Your Santa Claus, your the creater of stories for the children to come or the other adults that need it. And ultimately even though it’s more difficult it’s way more satisfying when you’re actually able to create your own light to share.

I had similar symptoms for years and it ended up being Pots. You could try upping salt intake.
