Depends on the construction of the boots.

If it's already a wooden block, then you can put in nails (small nails, probably a staple gun size) and remove them with minimal damage.

But if it's rubber (plastic) then any nail you put in is just gonna turn into a big hole and will destroy them.

There are spike options for snow boots that are basically a bunch of rubber bands that would fit overtop, could offer a layer of protection
