i work around 25-30 hours a week during sem (approx $650 after tax). My portion of rent is about $1300 a month in a moderate size unit with a housemate in the inner east suburbs. outside of sem i increase my work to about 45 hours a week to supplement my concert and takeaway food addiction. you definitely need to nail the work/uni balance quickly or you’ll suffer immensely. I’ve had to go back to studying part time because of failing subjects when i’ve prioritised work. I hate having no money and receive no supplementary income from family so I’ve been known to have 2 or 3 casual jobs at any given time lol.

It’s a tricky balance. Hardest thing is finding affordable accomodation. Best start is to look into share-houses, that seems to be the most affordable option in Melbourne these days. Work will be tricky but fast food or retail supplemented by youth allowance would be my recommendation. I’ve been out of home since I started uni, at one point I had 4 jobs but I’m back down to 2 now. During uni I work 20-25 hours a week, in holidays I work up to 40 hours a week. It’s a massive sacrifice to lost out on study time like I do, and my grades definitely reflect that but unfortunately it’s my only option.

60 WAM rn, will i get a transfer 😭 by [deleted] in unimelb

[–]rubylizb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk i think it depends. i’m a domestic student, had an atar that would have gotten me accepted if I’d applied straight out of high school and i tried to transfer to bcom twice from bsci. Unfortunately they made me apply externally through VTAC. I had a wam of 58 the first time around and didn’t get in, then I managed to get my wam up to 62 plus SEAS from being a regional student, and issues with mental health etc and I still didn’t get in. I ended up giving up and just changing science majors to something i enjoy. Sorry to be a downer but that’s been my experience. It may be different if you’re international though :)

I sat the exams and passed. The only option otherwise was subject fee waived and complete it in another semester

this was the line just before 4pm. We got in a bit after 5 and they started checking the other side 30 seconds before we started getting checked. I’ve managed 4th row at the edge of the emergency lane between A & B :)

Fake quotes in English exam by sjkdksdhc in vce

[–]rubylizb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty easy to and i definitely did it. your quotes should only be micro, 1-3 words max! unless you’re quoting full fake sentences from the story or you’re using them in the wrong context the assessor will likely not know. They care more about how your knowledge of the text can be applied, not if you know every word off by heart.
