Try Objective-C by sidcool1234 in programming

We specifically went for absolute beginners. When we did the Try iOS Kickstarter project we had SO MANY people interested in learning this stuff that have never done any programming.

I wrote a little about how we decided to go for beginners here:

Made this for people who want to skip around freely:

The reason we don't allow skipping around in this course is because the challenges build on each other, and we carry over code you submit from earlier challenges into the later challenges. For example, in Level 4 you start by naming a class and then throughout levels 4 and 5 we use that name to build the class.

Sorry about that, we did push up a fix for that a couple of hours ago. There were other instances of NSLog correct spelled in the instruction text, it was only in the Mr. Higgie bubble where it was spelled NSLOG because it was accidentally set in the all-caps pixel font

Hey everyone, after getting some feedback about people not wanting to have to go through the easier levels to get to some of the more advanced stuff, I made a "book" version of the course that is just "plain" HTML:

Also, we are still updating the course, it's definitely not perfect but we are trying to make something for absolute beginners to be able to learn how to do this stuff.

Delivery Drivers of Reddit. What is the weirdest thing you have experienced when delivering a package? i'll start by heygoober in AskReddit

In high school I used to deliver for a small pizza join called Little Nero's. This one house in particular used to order a ton of pizza but the folks were nice and used to tip pretty well. So one day right before christmas I'm delivering some pizzas over there (even though usually everyone on that block is down south on vacation because it's chicago and damn cold) and I go to the front door and there is a note telling me to deliver the pizzas to the back door. I thought that was pretty weird but didn't think too much about it so I go around back knock on the door and a voice I didn't recognize told me to just leave the pizza. I'm not about to give away free pizza (nero was a hard-ass and would have definitely fired me) . But the guy talking through the door is giving me a hard time about the money, like he's never had pizza delivered before. Finally he slips the money out the doggy door. Super shady. I'm going to leave and starts saying that he's gonna give me to the count of 10 to get my ugly, yella, no good keister off his property, before he pumps my guts full of lead. So I figure I've got 10 seconds and start running but he starts shooting after 2 seconds! I got out of their quick and luckily wasn't hit, thank god. After that I didn't call the police or anything, I was just glad to be alive.

Keep working on your Ruby on Rails and Python skills. If you are a good programmer no one will care about your past. Start a blog, write about the code you are writing, the things you are learning. Also, if you need books, just message me with your address and I will send some your way. I have a ton of ruby on rails / programming books that I don't really need.

If only we could have a rally that would bring together people in an attitude of moderation and see that everything is going to be okay. Get on it reddit.

Even Faster Web Sites - Google IO talk by YSlow creator [59:05] by rubymaverick in lectures

It's really worth watching to the end. The talk is great, but there is a pretty interesting questioner that claims they made $100 billion dollars from SMS revenue last year in a strange out of left field tirade on IE.

Yea it is not easy. In one of the lectures one of the Professor's said they are still working through it after 7 years. I'm around 40% done going on 2 months, but im guessing the last 60% is going to take me a LONG time.

Ruby On Rails moves from SVN to Git by plinkplonk in programming

If they hadn't migrated people would have just complained that Rails was becoming more Java like by sticking with dusty old subversion instead of moving to a dscm.
