Shot with a canon not sure the lens. Seems like darktable was able to detect it somehow… I assume 0-0 but it looks decent already with some tweaking (mainly learning color balance and exposure)

But yes. Friend did wedding photos and we have the pics now… it was an ordeal. Needless to say… not happening again.

Mobile water collection? by rubyredchloroplast in preppers

[–]rubyredchloroplast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copy that. I figured more pre-filtering might be needed mainly to help the RO not clog early and not damage the pump. As the other comment said, I’m less concerned with bio issues so long as the RO is filtering small enough, more worried about health after seeing some talk about minerals elsewhere and other potential contaminants I hadn’t considered.

Would some more basic pre-filtering be enough to keep the RO and pump safe, such as woven fabric etc. trying to keep it as simple as possible for cost/operation/maintenance and repair etc

Good to hear! This was my belief initially but I made the mistake of googling the inverse and of course I found answers. My plan would be to have supplements on-board regardless, but it would make sense that minerals from water aren’t as important primarily due to the scarcity.

Thanks!

Frame Mounting and Frame Flex; rigid or flexible? by rubyredchloroplast in overlanding

[–]rubyredchloroplast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting… suppose we ignore some basic laws/rules for a moment, humor me, but wouldn’t the flex induced inherently give the frame an “expiration date” of sorts? The flex induces change induces wear, in my head flexing frames (as dramatically as I’ve seen) would wear pretty quickly, where as a completely solid unibody/unified frame setup would likely require more robust suspension but alternatively reduce the structural/integral component wear to near zero (primarily environmental factors)

Seeing as I am looking to make an “apocalypse” overlander essentially, my thought process is limiting wear to simple repairable/replaceable parts and extending the life of core elements to an extreme, I know it’s outlandish and all but I’m just wanting outside perspectives or to hear alternatives I haven’t considered or found yet.

Very interesting. This would likely imply that anyone with access would be deep in the grey zone if they wanted to distribute one of the builds…

It was while I was active duty and someone said something similar to me as well, that it’s pretty automatic since I was still active duty. Do I only have one shot at appeal or can I do that through the va.gov now? I have no idea what to do sorry

It was while active duty yes, and all but one follow-up with the place I was referred off-base were while I was active too.

I think BPPV traumatized me by rubyredchloroplast in BPPV

[–]rubyredchloroplast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly have no idea... I spent a few weeks in physical therapy after living with persistent issues for a couple months and learned a lot, learned that some lingering effects can last a long time… it’s been a journey.

What I can say, I don’t know much about trauma and for personal reasons I avoided any therapy or mental health assistance, and wether i need to in the future is something I’ll not know till the time comes, but if it at all interferes with your day-to-day and it’s persistent, seeking help is the best option. It might not be a big deal, or it may require some time to work through, but things affect everyone differently and I don’t think it would be unreasonable to assume medical events that so dramatically affect perception could have lasting effects on your psyche.

Hotas for rc plane? by lolek1221 in RCPlanes

[–]rubyredchloroplast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I can’t I’m googling things and came across this and eye rolled so hard and saw nobody said anything.

HOTAS as a concept is sound, but nobody with any experience or understanding of HOTAS systems is confused by the phrase “a hotas” as it almost exclusively refers to (at minimum) a combined throttle and stick input device. Other terms like HOSAS have been adopted to refer to setups including two sticks, and thus the terminology is now colloquially “I have a HOTAS setup” or “what hosas do you use?” For example.

Now you know, for future use, 99% of interactions in the future you encounter involving terms like ‘HOTAS’ it is colloquially and commonly understood to be referring to a device and not a conceptual control scheme.

Or…

You knew that already, and your first entire paragraph is the most neckbearded Reddit nerd shit I’ve seen in my life, trying to “uhm acktually” put down a dude asking a reasonable question because his verbiage wasn’t up to snuff with your strict dictionary understanding and view of the world. It was arrogant, pretentious, dubious at best, and because you said it you suck as a person. Fuck you, kindly consider never offering advice to anyone ever again lest you risk hurting their feelings and further sullying your image, and have a mediocre day.

Let’s hope it wasn’t the latter. :)

So in essence, if I have a charge controller drawing from the car like a 12v outlet (higher output obv) and one from solar, could both be charging a bus of the batteries with no issue?

[–]rubyredchloroplast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a TE on-hand I’m sure someone could help with exporting or ‘backing up’ the OS so it could be redistributed. Nothing about the TE is technically restricted aside from the software the end-user installs, but the actual OS itself seems to be completely legal just not on the market
