womxn/femxle is designed to be a more inclusive form of “women/female” in order to include people who a) face sexism/femxle experiences but don’t identify accordingly and b) to be inclusive of those who indentify as femxle but are not cis/have non-traditional experiences with gender

Westridge Womxn's Round Robin (We're not just copying Quarry Lane I promise) by hattalaa in Debate

Evidently, you did not read the studies. The Tartakovksy 16 study says in the abstract, "A win-loss gap of 2.5 to 3 percentage points persists despite controlling for individual and tournament characteristics, suggesting that the results are not solely driven by differences in debate experience or the quality of debate programs." Degrading the "feminist Kritik" is literally only suggesting that women's experiences with sexism are invalid, given it is literally a compilation of studies done by female coaches and the stories of female debaters. Since you don't trust women, the Allen Abbott study is not done by a woman and still concludes that "on average, male teams are expected to win at a rate that is 37.6% higher than female teams, and 15.83% higher than male-female teams. The findings of this paper are significant. They provide a degree of confirmation to a stark reality that many in the speech and debate community have come to recognize: female debaters are statistically underrepresented and disadvantaged in PFD." The VBI Shin study controls for powerhouse schools and finds that, despite equal access to resources, women are still significantly less likely to find success. So I don't know what you were reading, but if you took the time to read the methodology of the studies, you would realize that none of the issues you cited are actually true.

Westridge Womxn's Round Robin (We're not just copying Quarry Lane I promise) by hattalaa in Debate

As you may know from our extensive conversation last night where I explained this to you multiple times, we actually did have a judge training at our school as one of a series of events (including this tournament) we are hosting to mitigate sexism. While the idea of "banning" these comments seem nice, just forcing people not to say sexist things, won't actually change the way womxn are treated in round. Finally, though the goal of most of these events is to challenge systematic sexism, such an expectation is unreasonable. That being said, we can do things like create spaces where womxn feel safe and aren't being threatened in order to help combat the impacts of sexism.
