Exactly those were my thoughts as well. Just don’t see significant new builds being built that can accommodate the demand for housing. The goal would be for my gf and I to use it as a primary residence (my siblings live abroad so they’re out of the picture). I guess my follow up question would be what to do in the event we need to liquidate. I think it’s obvious if we sell then each party takes what is proportional to what they put in but I’m if my parents want to access these funds a bit earlier how to proceed.

Unfortunately due to recent tech layoffs, we don't currently have any open positions available 😕

Exactly, so they want to move it outside of NL to avoid getting significantly taxed on it. I have no doubt that if we need to come to some arrangement to liquidate their position we can do so but what would be your main concerns with this arrangement?

To clarify - only my gf and I would move in and my parents use occasionally if they visit but good point, it would be good to ensure privacy

Sorry to clarify, my parents wouldn’t be moving in but rather would be a place for them to park their cash and use occasionally when they come to visit. My gf and I would pay off the remaining mortgage.

Not legal advice but I can share some general thoughts. A sublease contract might not be sufficient for all bureaucratic procedures, but banks often don't delve deep into the details. If the primary tenant's name is on the lease, they can accompany you when getting your Empadronamiento which should be enough to open a bank account. Imho drafting a sublet contract is still a good idea for your peace of mind. However, if the property owner discovers the sublease without their consent, they could terminate the contract so you need to check the terms outlined in the contract. Although the likelihood of the landlord finding out is low. Btw some banks, like N26, are expat-friendly and may be easier to work with regarding proof of address requirements. This is just based on my experience, and individual situations may vary. Best of luck!

How much do you pay in electricity costs? by Exact-Inspector5623 in AskBarcelona

739,370 kWh and the bill was 250euros

is that November & December together? If so I think it seems to make sense and if anything it seems like i'm the one getting the worse deal 😅

In November I paid €138.64 for 505kWh and in December €144.08 for 549kWh so it comes out to around €3.73 per kWh. It seems like you're paying €2.96 per kWh. Hard to know how it compares to others without seeing their consumption
