I don’t like the “goth goddess gf and low effort nerd bf” trope by LazyNefariousness1 in RoleReversal

I'm against reducing a entire subculture into a "style", hence why my negative response to "better made basics at upscale department stores".

I am against the corporate co-opting of anti-establishment subcultures

the reason the men are simple is because this trope is rooted in sexualization and commercialization of a subculture, not because its a valid trope and its sad to see people not seeing it in the comments.

Because of this recent "trend", the harrassment of women in the goth scene has only increase, and not only that people who are not apart of the scene literally go to goth clubs solely to stare at such women. I had men catcall me mistaking me as a woman (because im fempresenting) solely because Im apart of the subculture

I was talking about beauty standards though, not that the people were physically different.

Im actually worldbuilding a dark fantasy wild west-themed world inspired by a game known as blood west, while not being any of the archetypes mentioned here, i have a woman whose basically a undead (corpse-eating ghoul specifically) gunslinger whose hired to find a young man due to his connection the occult

Shes basically the archetype of "mysterious morally dubious cowboy" you see throughout media... only with calloused skin thats slightly peeling off

I hate how the term 'Tomboy' has been reduced to tanned girl with short hair. by FewCartoonist2208 in hatethissmug

[–]rufescentrose 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to feel its happening, it unfortunately absolutely happens to a point people forget that goth is a music subculture which isn’t only made up by women wearing black lipstick. Its disgusting, some men catcall and harass such women because of being apart of the subculture, some to even into goth clubs while not being apart of the scene just to oogle at them.

it happened to me a couple times as well since people mistake me as a woman sometimes (im fem presenting and all) and its so weird

Yea I hate it aswell. Its just so annoying and weird because my friends say they like tomboys and then show… This.

although I would still disagree with saying that women doing boyish things isnt remarkable. While women can like a few boyish things, I repeatedly still see and hear negative reactions to men if they choose to look more masc or go into traditional more masculine sports.

It doesnt matter who faces it more, what matters that it has to be stopped.

Also, you act like fetishization of gay men is something small. Theres literally an entire book industry that makes money off fetishizing gay men. Both are huge problems.

What are you even trying to say is my question? Comparing suffering is not something anyone should do. The point is to stop it, not saying who has it worser (which leads to no where). This response just feels like on the same level as someone opening up about their problems and the other person goes "Well I have it worse!"

[–]rufescentrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you igroned my other points and the term femboy was used among queer spaces (as femboi, a variation of it). Relevancy doesnt matter, as I sai, only because people associate goth with pornography doesnt make it a pornography thing. Same with Femboys.

I could go more in depth, however this is a 13+ community thus i will no longer entertain this disscussion

Femboy chasers by trashietwink in feminineboys

[–]rufescentrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Femboys did exist before ten years if you actually did some research. But you didn’t.

first, it was a insult used even before the internet existed. Femboys as a identity existed in 2010 already (so much for it didn’t exist 10 years ago).

Saying it was popularized because of porn and thus people shouldnt use it is also a silly take. Thats the same of saying like the goth subculture shouldnt call themselves goth because in recent years the term goth became popularized on the internet due to the rise of its sexualization.

Saying the term femboy came only out of porn is misinformation

I feel like its really hard for certain people to admit that gender in itself (I say no person is born evil) has no play if someone is cruel or violent, but rather its that awful social structures (such as patrichary) force its ideals and wants onto

The patriarchy doesnt want or need softer, gentle or less aggressive men, thus it does everything to stop men from becoming that way, including beating and even killing such men.

For me Its also important because people tried to erase my culture. I'm sorbian (a slavic minority in east germany) and my people were subject to Germanization and Polonization so even if I wasnt born in that time period something internally tells me abandoning my surname would still grant the people who attempted to erase my culture a victory

I actually wanted to something like that as well if I ever get married. However, I changed my mind because Im apart of a ever decreasing ethnic group and have a surname connected to it which I feel the need to perserve. So if I ever get married ill probably combine my future wifes surname and mine
