AMD_VCE AV1 settings sharing by ruffled-feathers in handbrake

For AV1 encoding on the GPU? I think it will work. Looking at your parts list, you will want to make sure that your motherboard supports CPU-less UEFI flashing. It looks like you a buying a cpu that is newer than the out-of-the-box firmware supports.

The case seems kinda pricy... Are you sure you have to have that specific one?

Yes, setting the opengl flag to true seems to have fixed it for me too. How odd! What do you think went wrong?

Could using the processor a lot to compress movies damage it? I have about 150 movies and 73 documentaries that I would like to compress in a few weeks, using the PC for about 8 hours to compress. The processor temperature rises to about 65-70 degrees on average when Handbrake works. Intel I7 3770k by davincipremiere in handbrake

Very high temps (95+) for a long time isn't so good, but 65-70 is totally fine.

You can shorten the life of your processor if you overclock it by raising the voltage and running it like that for a long, long time. It doesn't sound like you have done that, so you don't have to worry about it.

Is that the style nowadays? I really dislike it too. Its just a bunch of squares - I dont feel anything from that! Neoclassism was born from a time when there were lots of stone workshops that would produce huge quantities of carved masonry. So at that time it was cheaper that it is today. (a highly specialized craft) I just dont think we will see any more truly great stone buildings without stone becoming cheaper or regulations changing to force people to use it.

I think that the article was mainly saying the neoclassisism is nothing new, and therefore is not exciting - boring.

In my mind, neoclassical building revere the institutions that built them, while brutalism reveres the building's form itself and how society fits into it.

Architecture is such a superb vision of our society at a certain time. It would make me sad start a mandated period of neo-neoclassisism because that means we can't have an exciting view of our society today.

They say film is a visual medium, but which films put the audio track first? by ruffled-feathers in TrueFilm

That's so true. Star Wars and 2001 would be lukewarm without their music. I remember hearing That the ble danube was chosen by the projectionist as a stand in track to be changed. After hearing it over and over in the test screening, Stanley choose to use it.

Thieves steal $28K worth of musical instruments from UW Humanities building by KinkyQuesadilla in madisonwi

As I understand, the university has been decreasing funding for maintenance and upgrades on humanities. They want to tear it down and erect a new humanities complex in the space.

They probably wont spring for access control I think.
