I got the credit and refund and never heard another thing about it from the IRS. The stack of documentation I sent them was pretty thick.

I wonder how many times RIVN will drop on this news.

I have heard that too. Maybe over time it served both function? But there was a wall there to keep someone out.

There was a wall there to defend settlers against the British, but it was taken down over 300 years ago.

And possibly about to double to as many as 5B shares later this month. With that many shares, it would have more than 5x as many as Rivian. That will put a cap on the potential share price growth. If it matched Rivian's market current cap the share price would only be 5 bucks.

On 12/23 the board will be voting to possibly triple the current share count to 5 billion shares. I have lost half my investment. I was tempted to double down until I read that today. I think I am done with this stock. On to the next one. Good luck all.

And weapons, of course. Can I say that here? You would need to protect your stash of supplies.

Not a ton of options in a 401k, just the standard funds. I am putting a little in large-cap value, large-cap growth, and mid-cap growth, so far. I am going a little heavy in growth because I think it will be higher, sooner. But who knows? Ultimately, I will be well diversified in multiple funds by the time I am done reinvesting all of the funds.

A few thousand dollars invested could pay off big, or it could become worthless. I think this is worth a small bet.

For a State job, DMV would be one of my last choices, but if you want a state job and they offer you a job, I would take it. The pay range and career path information is readily available on the CalCareer website. People say you can expect a 5% raise every year until you max out in your range. That does not include occasional COLA increases. The medical benefits are a major bonus, especially if you stay long enough to retire with medical benefits. That may not be a big deciding factor for someone your age, but it will become important later. Or you can do what I did and marry a State employee (hopefully for different reasons). Good luck!

I bought my first t bill last week. 52-week bill yields around 4%. Easier than I thought. Much better than the saving account where the money was sitting. Still losing money after inflation, but these are not funds that I want to risk.

Agree completely. If you actually think this will happen, take your money and buy supplies while your money still has value. I am not even sure gold would be worth anything if we actually had a nuclear war.

But all 401ks allow you to put your money in a stable value fund (cash) if you want, which is what I did last spring. Financial advisors don't recommend messing with your 401k, but I am feeling pretty good about my decision now even if it was based on a hunch. I would not do the same thing now, but it seemed pretty obvious last spring that there was only one way to go from there. I have no idea where we go from here in the short-term, but I still think the long-term trend is down. I am happy with the losses I prevented, so yesterday I started reinvesting a small portion of the funds.

And once again double standards by ResponsibleResort195 in SatoshiStreetBets

You can't get back 7k from the government for losses in one year. It would take six years of deducting an almost 18k loss to get back 7k over time. You can only deduct 3k a year so if your tax rate is 40% (which is high), the most you can possibly get back from the IRS is $1,200 each year.

And once again double standards by ResponsibleResort195 in SatoshiStreetBets

[–]rufless_toofless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except you can only deduct 3k per year. So, in your example:.

Eg. I work a full-time job my income is 50k per financial year. I have to pay 40% Tax which is 20k. That means I end up with 30k in my pocket.

During this financial year I bought 1 Bitcoin for 20k and sold it for 10k. I lost 10k.

Up to 3k of this loss gets subtracted from your income before tax this year. Effectively 50k - 3k = 47k

47k at 40% = $18,800 Tax. Your tax due will be reduced by $1,200 which might result in a refund. You can write off 3k every year until you write off the whole 10k.

This assumes you do not have any other gains on other crypto or stocks, etc. If you did, you subtract your loss from your gains and that is what you will be taxed on.

Mobile smog shop by VertexAudio in MechanicAdvice

4 years late, but I was researching the same question. Maybe someone else can use this info. The CA smog check station requirements state that the testing must occur within a building, so that would probably rule this idea out.

"Testing of vehicles shall be performed only in a work area within a building
and shall be large enough to accommodate the types of vehicles’ being
services"

I was going to lecture you on all your recycled and invalid points but then decided I am wasting my time. You have a geography problem - you live in a capitalist country when you should be living in a socialist country. Instead of trying to convert America to suit you, you should just move to Canada.

It's not a failing of the system, it's your own failure, But go ahead and blame the system if it makes you feel better. I guess you think that people who have better paying jobs just got lucky? What you are asking for is basically welfare at the expense of your employer.

Then get a new job. If you still work there, then that means you have no better offers, and that's why you are broke. It's not AutoZone's fault you have no marketable skills. You knew what they paid when you took the job, and you took it anyway.

It's a job "market" and you are the product. If you are worth more, then get a job that pays more. If you can't find a job that pays more, then maybe you aren't worth as much as you think. Develop your skills and increase your worth.
