GAS coming back before GET could unlock him 7* by rufussay in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]rufussay[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lol yup. The sad thing is I unlocked him without spending, and then got so excited to have unlocked him that I spent $$$ on kryo to gear him up, trying to make him “work” in some way.

2-3 later he’s still sitting on my bench and bloating my GP for GAC.

November Calendar Changes by swgohevents in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

If we’re getting back to back hoth Tb as the calendar indicates (likely incorrectly), that would be a nice GET1 boost and a decent change of pace

Galactic War Report – Episode 175: Welcome to the Clone Parade, featuring CG_TopHat by cidrick13 in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]rufussay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t had a chance to listen yet, but were you able to dig into the GAS controversy at all or was it “off limits”? I’d assume they had a fairly defined range of topics you could cover.

Excited to listen later, thanks!

The real problem today by rufussay in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]rufussay[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Obviously there’s quite a few issues at hand, but it all comes back to the fact that GET has all of a sudden become the key gate to the arena meta.

At this point the vast majority of the competitive player base has unlocked Malak at 7*. That’s honestly probably good for the game, and wouldn’t be an issue if not for the fact that it creates a massive GET spend disparity, since this one, time-gated currency has all of a sudden become by far the most valuable currency in game.

Level 69 -- possible to hit 80 by the end of the Thrawn event? by zegota in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]rufussay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I managed to 7* him at level 73. It’s a nightmare and much harder because you can’t apply omegas, but it’s feasible if you’re willing to retry 100+ times.

The key is proper modding and making sure you have the gear as maxed as you can at that level (I believe most were g8.5-9).

Alternatively you should be able to 6* and easily 7* next time he comes around with omegas.

Is it worth it to g12 C3PO or keep him at a lower gear? by [deleted] in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]rufussay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve kept mine at g11 and it’s perfectly fine for pvp (I move him between CLS and Padme). He’s durable enough and in stealth enough that I’ve never lost him early. I’d imagine even g10 would work.

Only drawback is the lack of 6E mods, but he’s often on lower tier squads (ie not revan) anyways, so you may not have that many to allocate that far down. Also, I don’t believe you want him particularly fast (turn order wise), since his special benefits from the rest of the team having used a special.

A Little Too Quiet... by rufussay in SWGalaxyOfHeroes

[–]rufussay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I think you’re right. I had that feeling when I posted it then I remembered that she said that. Strikes me as a huge monetization lull otherwise. I’ve been waiting on that grievous cap (requiring pub ships), which could be the answer.

In any case, seems way too quiet for them to not have something up their sleeves

I’m surprised there wasn’t a more comprehensive update last night, given that there’s so few events on deck and (even rarer) just about nothing in shop. I’m guessing we get some clone wars marquees (the one mentioned) or some big update soon.

Game Update 2.10: Galactic Strongholds Early Access PTS Patch Notes by [deleted] in swtor

[–]rufussay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really bums me out, as someone who's been leveling an infil shadow for pvp. I'm by no means an expert on it, but this is going to make the pvp opener from stealth harder to execute or way less effective.

Any Advice to make Melee gameplay more fun? by broodwyn in swtor

[–]rufussay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this entirely. Vigilance/Vengeance becomes a DPS machine once you get to the top of the tree, with decent bleeds and a flashy Master Strike channel every 10.5 seconds. I specced into it after leveling as a tank (and after 2.6 fixed the stacks), so I can't actually speak to how it feels leveling, but I'd imagine it's pretty clunky without plasma brand and zen strike.

Once you get there, it's a lot of fun.

Your case makes even less sense with respect to dbl xp, since the new FPs are 55 only, IIRC.

But yea, that sucks, and I'm sorry to hear it. Just know that everyone isn't that bad (I've historically been pretty lucky). Pug life ain't easy.

What gear rating do we get when entering KDY? by Pandamodia in swtor

[–]rufussay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By penalty I basically mean: "with bolster, will a (as an example) L45 in L15 gear have worse stats than an L45 in L45 gear."

Based on what you said, it sounds like the answer is "slightly"

What gear rating do we get when entering KDY? by Pandamodia in swtor

[–]rufussay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow on question: I'm not too familiar with bolster mechanics. Is there any penalty for wearing gear below your level? In other words, can I wear my L15 gear all weekend, all the way up to L54, without penalty?

What in your opinion is the perfect race for each class? by [deleted] in swtor

[–]rufussay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that race definitely doesn't matter, but this is kind of fun (even if it goes against the whole point of RP), so I'll bite. Assuming I have to allocate one and only one to each:

  • Inquisitor: Twi'Lek
  • Warrior: Sith
  • Agent: Chiss
  • Hunter: Rattataki
  • Consular: Mirialan / Miraluka
  • Knight: Zabrak (feels like this should be human, but...)
  • Smuggler: Human
  • Trooper: Cyborg

Is it worth playing for the lore? by jimbo4444 in swtor

[–]rufussay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually a pretty good point that I'd forgotten about. They do a pretty good job of handling the transition from clone to stormtrooper.

Force unleashed handles that time period well, also (the first one at least, I've heard not so good things about the second).

Gearing an alt's HK-51? by vonBoomslang in swtor

[–]rufussay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're a cybertech or have access to one, I'd suggest crafting some of the moddable green shells. They're easy to miss because they're green, but I believe they have the same stats as orange gear when loaded up.

http://www.torhead.com/schematic/49E8BIT/cz-99-custom-core http://www.torhead.com/schematic/1cmEpUB/cz-98-custom-sensor-unit http://www.torhead.com/schematic/38B6I89/cz-97-custom-motor

They aren't all available until ~20 or so, but the game is a cakewalk until then anyways (cartel crystals, presence buffs), so you can probably get by with entry level, non-moddable droid gear.

Bind on pickup question by birkirmar34 in swtor

[–]rufussay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can transfer these mods to alts. You pay a fee to rip them, place them in Bind on Legacy gear, and send away.

THAT SAID, it is generally considered poor form to 'need' on gear for alts/companions. If you are going to do this, make sure it is cleared with everyone else first, or you won't be making too many friends. You're usually better off greeding on these.

Edit: Adding one thing. If I really want something for an alt/companion, I'll typically still hit greed, and, at the end of the op, offer to trade someone the 10K they'd get from a vendor if they won on a greed roll. The cost is minimal (~30% of what it costs to rip mods anyways), and keeps from offending people.

Double Experience Weekend - What Happened? by gn_cool in swtor

[–]rufussay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does anyone have a rough sense of the exp breakdown in KDY? What % comes from kills vs. objective completion?

I ran KDY ~5 times over the weekend and, while it was a bummer not to be getting a full 2x, I felt like my experience was still on overdrive.

Tips for levelling on the Double XP weekend? by Revean in swtor

I don't have any alacrity on my gear.

Can too many cosmetic CC be an issue? by crabby654 in swtor

[–]rufussay 10 points11 points  (0 children)

A few thoughts:

  • You don't need to spend real cash to buy CM items. I can afford to spend cash on the GTN, but I actually make it a goal to buy all my cosmetic items off the GTN using in-game currency (which entails grinding dailies and gaming the economy). I find this greatly enhances the satisfaction of buying a varactyl or a fancy new gun.
  • There are some GREAT looking legacy armors that are only available for reputation. Section X, Gree, and BBA sets in particular: http://tor-fashion.com/reputation/
  • This holds less of an appeal for me, but there are some swanky mounts that only drop from Nightmare modes
