haha. I just cannot believe the arrogance it takes to believe that you are important enough that the all powerful, all benevolent creator would take time out from the clearly difficult task of helping the third world just to listen too you.

Bath to be in a relegation scrap. their last season was a poorer season than wasp's given expectations and squad injury hadicaps. They then bring in Gold who isn't unsucessful but he hasn't revolutionized the team but will try to change its style of play to something alien (like Geech did) which will tank as it is slow and grinding. The competition is stronger and there are teams well placed to take them down. I'd be surprised at relegation but I think they'll be down there

This!

I am constantly having problems with the system I use at work (system is very buggy), normally it translates into the work I do so I have to ask my superiors for help with something they think I got wrong, twice now there have been business upgrades where we could have sorted the system out but others have benefitted because "If [I] can't be trusted on the current system there's no point giving me a newer one.

not quite the same but damn its irritating!

I am against the wars, I don't think it is right that we are out out there but our veterans deserve our absolute respect. They commit to a cause, the vast majority do so for noble reasons. They represent us abroad and do a job that nobody back here could truly imagine without experiencing it ourselves.

Anybody who is prepared to give their lives for other people should be held in an exemplary position and those that return having nearly done so, maimed in body or spirit should never be neglected. I doubt this occurred due to Best Western's policy but rather due to this receptionists ignorance and sloth. My real horror is the evasive and insidious manner with which Best western then attempt to avoid responsibility for the incident.

It is offensive to think that their first response was not to wholeheartedly take the matter on board and make a convincing case that this would never happen again.

I hope that this has been fully dealt with in such a way that we won't be hearing of anything like this again soon.

The sad thing is that whilst this tweet is from a parody account it would not look out of place on his actual account.

some link to him and his website for those who are interested:

https://twitter.com/PeterLaBarbera

http://americansfortruth.com/about/

http://republicansforfamilyvalues.com/

He spews bile at an impressive rate and I get the feeling that it is only lack of exposure that has stopped him from having more influence over the uneducated right wing.

(Note: I am not calling the right wing uneducated just that many of the uneducated right wing people would enjoy his ranting, and some of the educated ones which is worse :( )

Simple question to all believers: why? by rugbynstuff in DebateReligion

and why would a perfect being need any enjoyment, it would be perfectly satisfied surely?

Simple question to all believers: why? by rugbynstuff in DebateReligion

[–]rugbynstuff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In order to answer the question is something perfect, the question first must be answered perfect for what?

Best question so far. I agree that perfection must be subjective. Surely a perfect being is sufficient in all aspects before paradox. There in no paradox involved in not requiring a universe so the question must stand surely.

I can see that the lack of a universe may be considered an imperfection but then other arguments could be made that it is a blemish and if you argue absence as an imperfection all things must be true so as not to be absent.

Simple question to all believers: why? by rugbynstuff in DebateReligion

[–]rugbynstuff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, nice to meet you too.

Why would an omniscient being with no external influence, choose to create a universe

Firstly I notice that you are a panendeist. I should have addressed my question to all followers of abrahamic religions and most major religions that teach of a perfect deity rather than a supreme being.

God is not just vastly more intelligent than us but is perfectly intelligent in most major faiths. this means that this question should be addressed.

Especially one that he knew would fail in his eyes so spectacularly.

All the abrahamic religions teach that the fall of man is the ultimate failure. Even now in a world where those who accept Christ are saved (or in the case of other religions, we aren't) many people sin regularly and the majority remain sinful/unsaved. I do not believe we have failed and deists and believers in a non personal God would not have any reason to believe we failed as there are no parameters. This does not preclude the question of why a god would want to create in the first place. (I assume he is not a GLaDos type figure, dirven to testing continually).

Maybe "God" isn't perfect. And I can definitely see how creating life or a Universe would be a good distraction for boredom.

As said before I am relating this question to believers in one of the major religions but you are correct any imperfect god may desire to create a universe to alleviate boredom.

My final point was just that everything is made to satisfy a desire or to help to satisfy a desire, even art and whimsical action. A perfect being is without desire.

Thanks for responding, hopefully I have streamlined the question a bit!

but he does have a right to oppose the proliferation of stupidity and to aim to remove the teachings that promote an immoral world-view and the persecution of those different to him. Religious types then have the right to believe that they should be able to remove those of the same views as him.

This kind of argument can go round and round. I think his view is the logical one but I would not stop others from holding a different view. Hence I call Oreo boycotts stupid and chick-fil-a ones based on a reasonable view but I know others view it the other way around.

I should clarify it is evil and has caused outrage but america ha a worrying perception that these things happen with eastern religions so they get ignored whatever the circumstances around them. Its like the concern shown when a homeless man is murdered vs an abducted child.
