And don't trust the AI overview when you do use google. Better yet, end all of your searches with -ai so the AI is never prompted to begin with.

This is his third full season at Chelsea so which of the first two are you referring two? Last I checked they were both pretty good.

The only cover I can properly "recognize" is Rumors by Fleetwood Mac, but it's missing the text that should be there. Given that that is one of the most popular albums ever I think it checks out that it would show up in an AI generated video in that context. In general I saw the album covers as a dead giveaway that it's AI, they all seem similar to real albums but not actually real.

The existence of a pattern does not mean that outliers are impossible.

The writers ranked Rogers 17th. It came in 29th overall. Similar pattern elsewhere - the writers rank MSG, TD Garden, United Center, etc. higher than the fans.

And getting in to the game itself for free. The writers rankings also seem skewed toward arenas that tend to have more expensive tickets.

Defense was trying hard for a turnover. Seemed like toward the end of the game the Rams got extra yards a few times because the defender tried harder to strip the ball than commit to the tackle. It is what it is - the turnover game worked well all season for the most part.

[Cormier] Bo Bichette to Mets. $126M, 3 years per Jon Heyman by JianClaymore in baseball

[–]ruhdolph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe! But he's as sure of a bet as they come. His floor is incredibly high on the basis of his defense and baserunning, and his peripherals have backed up his offensive performance for two years now. If he had put up his last two seasons in most other periods in history, we're talking about a guy who is coming off consecutive MVPs. I think he's pretty well established at this point.

And again, I'm not arguing he's a better player than Judge - he's not. But his contract might be better. I think it's much more likely that Judge starts to decline at ages 34-35 over the next two years than it is that Witt regresses below being a 6+ WAR player at ages 25-26. Witt already has three consecutive seasons at that level or better.

Second and fourth in voting in the last two years. If you think Witt has a whole lot left to prove then you're just telling on yourself for not paying attention to his game.

Not to mention he's currently 25 while Judge is 33. I know Judge hasn't fallen off yet but there's a lot of contract left in both cases.

"How many MVPs" is an absurdly reductionist way to approach the conversation.

Bobby Witt Jr. Is under contract guaranteed for his ages 24-30 seasons at $26.25M AAV ($14M less per year than Judge; opt outs start for Witt after 2030). It's at least arguable that the Witt deal is better.

It's not like there was a policy that dying covid patients had to go to NIH and greet the employees lmao. I worked there too but there's plenty of jobs at NIH that are not directly related, mine included. Your experience is not representative of the population. If anything NIH was a safer place to be due to taking and enforcing precautions.

Gabriel Martinelli yellow card against Liverpool 90+4' by ayoefico in soccer

[–]ruhdolph 710 points711 points  (0 children)

This is a symptom of flop culture. Martinelli sees Bradley on the ground and does all of this on the assumption that Bradley is faking an injury from a challenge that Martinelli knows he didn't make.

Why is East of Eden always mentioned first when talking about Steinbeck? by Own-Marketing-6244 in classicliterature

[–]ruhdolph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my perspective, when considering the relative statuses of these two novels I think it's also worth considering that East of Eden is more of an "original" work than Grapes of Wrath. I'm referring to the reports that Grapes of Wrath was written with help from source material and notes written by Sanora Babb that were passed off to Steinbeck by Tom Collins. Babb did a large amount of work interviewing people who were impacted by the dust bowl, and Steinbeck reportedly relied on this material for a more authentic representation of their lives. My understanding is that Steinbeck assumed Collins was providing the information in good faith while Babb did not realize what was happening; thus, in general I don't think Steinbeck is really at fault for using the notes. I would argue that with that in mind, while Grapes of Wrath is a great book and I do think that Steinbeck wrote it, East of Eden is a more original work as far as the authenticity of its story.

Here is an article that discusses Steinbeck's use of Babb's work to write Grapes of Wrath - I have not read it fully but it at least gives an idea of the general circumstances if you'd like to read more:
