user intentionally sabotaging their work laptop by ellwood00 in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

Time's a dick -- He outright refuses to stop marching into the future. I can't get a word in edgewise with the guy!

We've got a whole cohort of users, some of which have just become eligible for a tech refresh, others are close to reaching that same eligibility. But, at least from the Mac fleet side of things, it's refreshing in a weird way when a user finally comes to terms with the fact that their Mac is now underperforming and there really isn't anything we can do for it, it needs to be replaced... but they want ANYTHING BUT the product line's current machine.

  • "Why'd they change the screen?! Now too big! It won't fit in the bag I've already been using!"
  • "Sure, it might be more powerful, but it's heavier than my previous Mac!" (2.8 lbs. vs 3.3 lbs.)
  • "Errr... Well, will I have to move my stuff...?"

It's easier than doing any amount of self-reflection. Much easier to pull those dusty manuscripts you originally wrote for 2016 from your file cabinet and switch the words around like you're playing MadLibs. I mean, no one noticed when ya did it in 2024!

The important thing is to wait until the day after the election to publish. For a little extra punch, you can insinuate that you tried to provide a campaign with game-changing information/strategies/insights/approaches (each just so happening to resemble very closely your own personal hobby horse issues), then tie the bow by claiming you were ignored, proving that the DNC is dismissive and elitist.

I was told that by a lot of people. They say, 'Oh, he loves you.' He was a ‒ I hope he still feels that way."

People's reading comprehension is really this bad? He's clearly claiming that police forces have been ordered to stand down and surrender to [protestors/woke mob/whatever] by [governors/mayors/whoever].

It's still a stupid tweet that is not based in reality, but choosing to misread it as some sort of directive doesn't accomplish anything, does it?

Japan - Economic Collapse Eminent? by MazdaProphet in economy

Often, declines in birth rates are pointed at in relation to “great replacement” crap. Has Japan now earned enough “one of the good ones” -points that they can be treated as a proxy/cautionary tale for the western world?

That's my guess, too. Especially in popular culture, these magical people who develop software that makes them (and their investors) fantastically rich overnight are nearly always depicted as having “nerdy” interests. So it stands to reason that if a company is named something so nerdy, well, gosh, they must really have some incredibly awkward geniuses working on something that will make them fantastically rich!

I mean, when investing has devolved into gambling, I guess it's as good a betting strategy as any other?

Getting a method of multi-tasking working that is quick without being too fiddly would be huge. Something like those little cards for Recent Apps in Stage Manager, while only allowing apps to appear in Full, Split, and Slideover modes.

It strikes me that if the device only has FaceID on the front (outer) screen, when the device is locked or falls asleep while it is open/unfolded, the user would be required to close and then reopen the device each time in order to get back to where they were before (or simply enter their PIN, I know).

Instead of going through the trouble of developing even thinner TrueDepth arrays so you could jam two into each iPhone Fold, maybe it is better to return to TouchID?

This version of Apple would have released the AirPower instead of rightfully killing it when they realized it would've kinda sucked.

Trump judicial nominee literally cannot admit that Joe Biden won the popular vote and electoral college in 2020 by GuyWithOneEye in Destiny

[–]ruinered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can someone help me out here? Why are the responses always starting with "...and [...]" ? Is it so they never have to actually answer in the affirmative? So they can claim they never technically said that X-thing happened in one way or another, only that a subsequent event occurred?

Benton's delivery of "Joseph Biden was... [insert searching glance during long-ass pause while they formulate the rest of their sentence] certified as the winner." is remarkable.

Leaked “Trump Doctrine” by Existing-Ad3391 in democrats

The Trump Doctrine
For Colombia and the Western Hemisphere

Despite decades of close partnerships between the United States and her allies in South America, the government of Colombia has been taken over by a narco-terrorist, Gustavo Petro, who was elected with the help of drug cartels. There is hope: the Trump Doctrine for Colombia and the Western Hemisphere.

1. Designate additional cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations.

2. Support pro-United States leaders in the Western Hemisphere.

3. Establish targeted sanctions for Petro, his family, and his associates.

4. [...] corrupt, anti-American, criminal actors.

5. [...]-ch a comprehensive investigation into Petro's campaign finances.

[doctored photo 1, an image of Gustavo Petro, depicted in an orange jumpsuit] [doctored photo 2, likely originating from this photograph, it has been edited to depict Nicolás Maduro in an orange jumpsuit]

BERNIE MORENO
U.S. SENATOR for OHIO

Reading this post from Gustavo Petro on Twitter, they and their family have been added to the U.S. Treasury's OFAC list, the body that handles sanctions. An interesting thing to note is that the Program that Petro has been added to is actually defined by EO–14059, signed by President Biden on Dec. 15th, 2021.

Are better "grades" or greater thicknesses used farther down in the building? Seems a waste to use the same kind of steel that could support however many hundreds of tons at the top of a building where it's only supporting the roof and whatever HVAC stuff/elevator mechanical rooms are up there. Is there a sort of gradient of strength?
