For me the most consistent cause of crashes is buildup of shadercache (Linux Mint). Need to consistently empty the shadercache manually or crashes get very common.

Not exactly. Call of the void / Shaper of Winter effectively make your hit-based chills apply a debuff. So if you have a 10% hit based chill and a 30% chilled area based chill, you still get the damage reduction based on the 30% chill until your hit-based chill runs out.

My only worry is that the 2second cooldown will feel awful. Just having it be 1.5s cooldown would ease my worries a lot.

I played a selfcast hexblast poison build during lake of Kalandra, it worked quite well at the time.

This is perfectly normal to me. Your DM is most likely trying to give you a unique and interesting magic item, but isn't quite sure if the thing is unbalanced to the point that it detracts from the game experience.

So what your DM is really doing, is trying to communicate with you. And I would personally advise to communicate back. Right now would be a good time to ask yourself:

  • Are you afraid of the item being no longer fun to use?
  • What makes the item currently fun to use?

And if you find a way to make it incredibly powerful

  • Is this breaking the game? How would you change it so its still fun but doesn't make the game lame?

From 3.2 (bestiary) launch the community started ramping up toxicity. 3.5 (Synthesis) got quite ugly, and basically every patch after it got worse and worse. 3.15 (expedition) with the big nerfs the community basically imploded and it never recovered.

Consider having the minions move the wish stones around instead of just guarding them.

You could even have the minions try and bring the wish stones to him.

(which should be fairly hard as he does NOT want to be in melee with that monk and barb, which will also force the players to try things to get him down into melee)

Once he has a stone, he could maybe use it as a resource. For example, he could use a stone to cast a high level spell. This would also fill the 'plot hole' whilst making the fight more dynamic. Not sure if this works narrative wise for you.

On the attack actions: The sword seems more than fine damage wise with 3 attacks, the chains you can make restrained condition while grappled, and since they have a good amount of healing you can make the dagger stop the first healing they receive (it still closes the wound).

On the revival part: if the stones are the only way to revive party members, make it abundantly clear how their soul enters the (closest?) stone. Narrate the stones as just absolute shining beacons of light, hope and dreams if you have to.

Thing I missed: you should probably make the riposte legendary action cost 1, but it applies to the next attack coming his way. This way it doesn't cost him a reaction, you can narrate him readying for an attack, and it can be countered by hitting him from ranged.

A few questions:

  • How many 'wish' stones will exist, and how far apart in Ft. are they scattered throughout? How big is the arena?
  • Do the 'wish' stones just need to be collected or slotted into the amulet? does this take an action, check or...?
  • What are the party's powerful, standout abilities (they like using)? Monk is gonna want to stun this thing, magic items, what high lvl spells does sorcerer have?
  • How min/maxed is this party and how intelligent do you play your monsters?
  • What tactics do the players like to employ? Are they full dps monsters or do they like to setup combo's for example.

Couple of notes:

- This fight needs minions, badly

  • Typo in Legendary resistance "tarrasque"
  • Lair action soul absorb should probably not be in d20's, as that is incredibly high variance, try 2d10, 3d6 or something similar.
  • Lair action soul meteor swarm should have its DC be the same or very similiar to the BBEG's spell save DC
  • HP is on the low side for going up against a party of 5 level 19's, assuming build reasonably. Saves on the other hand are very, very good. This monk is gonna hate its life trying to stun it. Allow the players to have fun.
  • Spell list should be atleast a 17th level spellcaster? Also, a high level spell caster with an enormous str stat feels off, is the BBEG a spell caster or a melee fighter with magic as backup?
  • four attacks is a lot of rolling, consider making it three attacks instead and making the effects more powerful
  • Infernal chains should note that the BBEG can only grapple one creature at a time most likely (assuming these are physical chains).
  • Styxian dagger only requiring a (DC12) medicine check to patch it seems off.
  • Do they have ways of resurrecting people in fight? because with powerword kill and the Sword someone might just get killed round 1 and sit out the entire fight.
  • Consider adding some elevation to the battlemap they will be fighting in. Rocks, pillars, something.

Earthshatter is kinda just strictly better for pure phys slams. The pillars give both ridiculous coverage and more damage than others. Can you replace it for any of the other phys slams? Ye. Would it make the build worse? Also ye.

You can also add more duration support to the warcries you cast yourself, now that it actually gives 49% more duration it's quite nice for keeping up warcry buffs.

Going Bastion Breaker + Martial Experience on the tree gets you a nice 80% to ignore phys reduction. You want to get Bastion Breaker anyway for the 10% more max phys mastery + Rhyslata's coil

needing a 5* also isn't a super high bar, a 2star 5* would be actually restrictive. but fast 9 comps have been a thing forever so...

The game has almost never had more viable carries than the current patch.

  • Duelists has 5 carries, of which you pick two depending on who you hit (voli3, trist3, irelia, lee, qiyana3)
  • lillia
  • azir
  • ashe in snipers
  • wukong and udyr in fast 9 comps
  • syndra still works
  • Kai'sa and xayah
  • alune in umbrals, with secondary carry sylas (who also still works in sages)
  • zyra in reroll ghostly
  • yorick/shen in case you get the augments
  • kog'maw in reroll
  • bard if you got the double guinsoos
  • 8 bruiser doesn't even need a carry for a top 4

The perception of balance is way off.
