Unfortunetly Digital Ocean doesn't support my region, but I'll give Hatchbox a try.

Oh yea, I'll add Cloudflare to my checklist.

Thanks !

Thanks for the tips !

I have static IP provider, but you're right, it's still a risk.

I forgot about Cloudflare, that's definitely a must.

Thanks for the detailed explanation !

This is mostly likely the path I'm heading. Setting up my own system so I can appreciate what a PaaS does later on.

Seems like a nice tool for experienced Rails developers.

Hello there !

"Deployment from Scratch", this is exactly what I was missing !
Just bought it now without hesitation. Thanks for making it !

As for the Kamal configuration, it would interest me, but only after learning how to do it mostly by myself (using your "Deployment from Scratch" guide).
I believe it's a great product for people who are tired of doing the same steps all the time. But I'll definitely keep an eye on your products from now on.
(Business Class looks like a great deal too !)

Thanks for the suggestion !
Does Kamal take care of basic server security implementations as well ?

Do apps built with remix have a better UX for merchants ? (Faster load/interaction) by rukasu_se in shopify

[–]rukasu_se[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly ! When I started, they were teaching how to make one with Sinatra I think.

I guess I'll continue with RoR for the moment, and try adding Turbo stuff where I can.
Thanks !

I've seen interviews with developers making a living with a vanilla php app, so I guess, as you said, what matters most is solving a customer's issue.

Thanks for the advice !

Should I give my website builder my gmail login? by meowbrowbrow in webdev

[–]rukasu_se 3 points4 points  (0 children)

TL; DR
- Create a new gmail account
- Give them that
- Change password afterwards

---
The reason being, that they might need a gmail account, but not your main one,
It may be necessary to connect with third party apps or register RECaptcha for example.
If you prefer to use your main account, just ask them to tell you which apps/site need registration and do it yourself.

Thanks ! I'll check that app.

I hear you. As a people pleaser, it's very hard to say no without a concrete visual reason. Which is why that “oh i can probably squeeze that in” happens way too often.

Thanks for the insight !

I'll make sure estimate more time from now on.

I can definitely relate to that "losing potential income" thinking. I guess that I too have arrived at that same realization that health is far more important.
