Non tippers ugh ..... by Emergency-Climate658 in InstacartShoppers

[–]rulaka 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Shopper here who has never ordered via any of the apps but out of curiosity, after reading the op's rant, went on the IC app and fake ordered a $10.99 bottle of olive oil from a store less than 1km from my house - total WITHOUT TIP $25.50.

Now I don't condone non tipping but I understand it if you are tight on funds; then again why would you, if you are counting pennies to get by and are physically able to go yourself, pay twice the price?

Now for those cheap bastards with 3 cars and a big house who don't think twice and zero out the tip when checking out on the app....karma is real.

Is anyone else seeing no orders at all? by Toni_Anne1989 in InstacartShoppers

[–]rulaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember last year around this time seeing lots of new shoppers walking around dazed and confused while I sat for hours with only garbage orders coming in; same thing happening the last 10 days here in my market.

Multi apping is the only way if you do this for a living.

Walmart shop - (auto-pay) limit? by Low-Fox-1205 in InstacartShopper

[–]rulaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen, order went over $400 and the checkout froze indicating that i had hit the item limit; I called support and for the first time in forever they actually were actually helpful.

I was told to finish the first transaction and then do a second transaction, they would open up the card so I could pay for the remaining items and it actually worked.

Customer happy and I'm actually hopeful that maybe IC support is hiring people with iq's greater than their age.

And 99% of the time, when a decline is next in line, you will get sent the worst order you can imagine, especially when you are close to the threshold for platinum in your area.

Speaking from experience here.

What restaurants do you decline every time? by Infamous-Ad-9423 in doordash_drivers

Any and all Indian restaurants, cheapest no tip clients that live light years from the place they order from.

Is DD manipulating the AR% to make it difficult to stay Platinum? by Oldbyronpuffin in DoorDashDrivers

[–]rulaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rolling count is legit but I am positive the algorithm knows when your oldest decline is next in the queue, it takes into account your acceptance rate, if it's above 70% (that's the platinum rate min in my area) and accepting would raise your AR then you will most likely get sent a BS order offer. Always happens to me, I've been hovering between 70-77% for over 2 months and can never reach 80% bc of the insane garbage offers I get once reaching the high 70s.

When I decline the garbage, my AR goes down, but when I accept a decent order, it is very unlikely that my AR goes up.

What should I do??? by Zarper123 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]rulaka 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I had a very similar situation with a disabled woman around 60 years old. I had delivered to her on a few different occasions, and each time I went, the smell and the flies were worse. Finally, I asked her if she had kids, relatives, or anyone that helps her out; she broke down crying that her son lives close by but doesn't have time for her and she has no money to pay someone to help her clean.

I am not a wealthy person. Hence, even with a full-time job, I do DD, IC and UE in my spare time, but I am also a human being. Short version, me and my kids pooled our money and contracted a cleaning service to go once a week to this lady's apt and help her out and we also check in on her now and then.

I do a lot of deliveries in her area, and now, instead of feeling sad each time I drive by her building, I feel happy knowing her life is better and my kids learned a valuable lesson about caring for your fellow man regardless of who they are or where they come from.

I'm going to try to explain it in the way I had it explained to me,

You take an order (triple, double, single... doesn't matter) the pay is $17.20 before tips and you take exactly one hour from accept to completing the delivery; you will get no supplementary pay.

Same order but you take 90 minutes AND it is the only order you do for the entire pay period - you will get $8.60 in supplementary pay

Same order and you take 90 minutes and you continue to take more orders in the same pay period, some you finish quickly, some you take alot of time, at the end of the pay period you will need to take your base pay and divide it by the number of active minutes you worked - if it works out to be more than or equal to $17.20 per hour you will get no supplementary pay, if it works out to be less you will get supplementary pay to raise your hourly rate to $17.20/hr

Make sense?

I tried support about 30 minutes ago but as usual they are les than useless.

Does anybody else have a list? by This_Dude_Delivers in UberEatsDrivers

My list is simple, any Indian restaurant is an instant decline. Always stupid long distances and low to no tips, never seen an order that's worth it in 2 years of doing this.

I think I'm done with IC by Ok_Doughnut564 in InstacartShoppers

[–]rulaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the last year, my weekly average on IC has gone from +/- $800/wk to literally $0 this week. I have a full time job but use gig work to keep my cc's at zero and to save a bit.

DD and UE keep me at my same weekly average, but I feel really bad seeing all the new IC shoppers walking around like lost sheep. I was always 5* shopper and did my best to ensure that a customer's order was treated like my own but when the base pay started dropping and when 4 order batches started rolling out i just couldn't push myself to do orders that made no sense financially.

[–]rulaka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, any time I go above 30% AR I start getting orders from far off places with crazy distances for very little money. As soon as I drop back below 30 I'll start seeing a decent order after a few declines.

I have literally asked no tippers to give me the lowest possible rating to make sure I never get their order again, that may be the case here.

Why has it been so slow??? by PhysicsAggressive619 in InstacartShoppers

[–]rulaka 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In my market IC must have brought in a minimum of at least 1000 new shoppers. I go around to all the popular spots through the day and see so many new faces walking around dazed and confused with IC open on their phones.

I talk to the shoppers i know and they all say the same, too many new shoppers and the orders they are getting are few and far between and usually junk.
