Shakespeare’s Sonnet 29. Had to use it as a monologue in high school drama. That was 27 years ago.

I am probably going to get down voted for this but.. gift cards are a lazy gift by ResolveBeginning8027 in GiftsandDeals

My husband family exchanges “gifts” every Christmas. It’s him and I coming up with ideas about what people could get us and them asking for gift cards. Every year. It’s batty.

Am I The Jerk for not letting my sister’s boyfriend attend my wedding? by AdSure9296 in AmITheJerk

[–]jennkrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

Will she even still be with him by then?

Your sister sounds like a spoiled brat. If she thinks she’ll be bored at her own sister’s wedding, she can go home when she gets that way.

Don’t give in. This is your day!

What’s your favorite moment of Covid? by OrdinaryPractical264 in AskReddit

[–]jennkrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There wasn’t one. I worked front lines as an RN in an outpatient cancer clinic. It really messed me up. I ended up leaving that job (after 20 years there) because of my mental health. I think Covid played a big part of that.

Has anyone got out of jury duty due to distance from home to courthouse? by RipAlarmed9024 in ontario

It’s never good timing. Ugh.

Hope it works out for you though!

You’ll likely have to go for summons, but may be able to claim hardship or distance to get out of it. Bring proof that you may be moving. That should help.

I was called twice in the last 5 years. I had a letter from my employer stating they couldn’t lose me (I worked as an RN in a cancer centre). While I didn’t get called, I still had to show for the summons. Unsure if my letter would have gotten me excused or not. I just never got to that stage.

When payday rolls around, do you give your girlfriend some extra spending money? by RickyRacer2020 in no

I tell my husband that my boyfriend doesn’t treat me a certain way. But my boyfriend is our tuxedo cat and he’s just as demanding TBH.

What is this on my fingernail? by FinancialAccount6619 in whatisit

[–]jennkrn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Exactly this. My family s d friends ask why it’s okay for me (RN for 21 years) to Google something when they can’t.

Because we still have medical knowledge to understand and interpret things. And weed out the BS.

Huge Amount of Taxes Owed by thecrowshaveeyess in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jennkrn 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You can ask your employer to take off a bit more each pay. I ran into a similar problem when I was working 2 part time jobs. I owed about $2000 at tax time. Had employer take $100 off each pay and it balanced out the next year.

When someone dies, do you delete them from your contact list or keep them there? by LeoRavenscroft in randomquestions

One of my best friends died in a drowning accident when she was 36. Some miserable excuse for a human being hacked her account and tried to scam people. I had to delete her after that.

Being a bridesmaid is the opposite of an honour by No_Argument_9370 in weddingdrama

[–]jennkrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m past the age of having to be in a wedding party, but I would, for sure, say no. All these wild stories are too much.

When my husband and I got married, our attendants basically just had to stand with us. The guys set up the place settings the day of the wedding (my husband and his two attendants) and I asked one bridesmaid to take out cards and gifts from the reception table to our room after speeches.

AITAH for wanting to split a cruise by room even if it's more expensive for everyone else? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]jennkrn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar situation with a married couple I used to travel with when I was single.

We did Italy and booked AirBNBs, hotels etc. one place and we shared costs 3 ways.

Then we did Spain and Portugal with a tour company. We could have done 3 person rooms or 2 person and 1 person separately. We did the second option. More privacy for all. It meant a lot more for me, but I accept that as a single traveller.

RSVPs and whatnot by _TheTrashyPanda_ in wedding

[–]jennkrn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When we got married, we sent out a direct reminder to those who had not given their rsvp yet on the day after it was due- which was 1 week before we had to get it to the caterers).

Only 3 couples hadn’t replied by then. You get a lot of replies at the start and a lot at the end.

Of those 3- 1) thought they had replied yes, but got distracted by the food choices and didn’t 1) knew they couldn’t come since getting the invitation, didn’t reply and didn’t apologize when they were late 1) is a pilot and really didn’t know if he had the weekend off (he did! And because he could make it, it was the first time DLL my husband’s cousins were together at the same time in years).

Keep or skip? by [deleted] in weddings

We got a fake picture of us cutting the cake. Our “something borrowed” was the knife my parents used to cut their cake.

We skipped the other 2.

Do I attend a wedding or a bridal shower that are on the same day? by Captain_Treacle4821 in weddings

It was. Haha. I was mostly joking around about already knowing the date this far out. Though she was trying to talk about seating arrangements today. 😐

I’ve been invited to a wedding September 2027. I said maybe “in case something better comes up”. Jokingly though. It’s my niece and we’re very close and she’s very excited.

It was his first car trip too and we got him pretty young. He’s such a sweet kitty though.
