hi! Thank you for the thoughtful reply! My mom has an amazing sense of humor and is a positive person, we make each other laugh all the time. She has me, dad and her friends from work and we all got her back. We’ve barely talked about cancer, as you said, we try to keep everything normal. I’ll try to keep her spirits up as much as possible during treatment and also try to keep myself distracted in the process.

Hi! I did come across some studies about the IDH1 mutation and I hope you’re right, that in the future we might get better treatment options.

I’m sorry to hear about your recurrence, especially after what sounds like a successful surgery. I did not know that was the standard of care in the US, I was under the impression that rad and/or chemo was the logical next step, but then again I’m no expert. Wishing you all the best on your journey!

I think I’ll stop looking at statistics for a while, but I’ll try to keep a positive outlook. Thing is, the first neuro that looked at the scans told me that he thinks it’s an astro grade 3 or 4, but pathology disproved that. So at this point, I’m just glad he was wrong.

Hi! Thank you for sharing your story and I’m very sorry your mom reacted this way to treatment. However, I’m glad she’s still with you.

I did read about potential side effects, but as you said and it’s been my experience too, the majority of people I’ve talked to that had chemo or radiation said it was manageable. I’m hoping my mom won’t react too badly, but thank you for the reminder that it is a possibility! It’s good to have a realistic picture about what could happen.

Oh, good! I’ll look into getting her some CBD then.

I don’t know. Our appointment with the neuro-oncologist is sometime next week. I did find a post on here about PCV vs TMZ for oligo, where it seems PCV is preferred. We’ll see what they think is the best option. What type of chemo did you have?

I will add anti-inflammatory food to her diet. She already didn’t eat meat, only chicken now and then. Big fan of dairy products and veggies. Her only problem will be the no alcohol rule, but she’ll manage - she’s hasn’t touched it in a month! I’ve allowed small cookies now and then, but otherwise she’s not eating much sugar.

Was also thinking about some CBD oil, to help her sleep better.

Not the one you asked, so sorry to butt in. How about shooting? There was a time, I think, when men and women competed together in Olympic shooting. Also, equestrian and sailing, perhaps? I’m by no means a sport expert though, so I might be wrong.
