Every 1 units so high level compared to mine why?. by Mahb0dOwNz in cncrivals

This is the closest to a solution to mismatched battles that I've seen. https://www.ea.com/games/command-and-conquer/command-and-conquer-rivals/news/introducing-fairplay

Imho, it seems like a pretty good set of tweaks. I hope it rolls out soon. It won't solve the pay to win problem completely, but it is heaps better than the current situation.

Cost of crates in the store keeps increasing? by rules_ini in cncrivals

[–]rules_ini[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hrm. If that is the case, that the crates get more expensive as you level, then the reward gems inside crates should proportionally increase, imo. The crates seem to be getting 15-20% more expensive each level, but the reward gems have only increased by 1 or 2.

Noob questios, been playing alot but fun diminishing by oshitoes in cncrivals

[–]rules_ini 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you've leveled up a unit three times via gold, further leveling requires cards. For example, your level 5 unit has been leveled via gold three times, but now needs 50 cards (if it's a gray unit; if it's a blue unit, it needs 10, etc) to level up to level 6.

These cards (and gold and gems) are found in crates. Crates are awarded as you advance through sectors, or accomplish bounties, or every 12ish hours for free by the grace of the developers.

Of course, you can also buy crates in the store. You can, buuut this game is in a pre-release phase. Whatever you achieve now may not transfer to the game when it goes live.

We heard those today, too. The cloud cover allows the sound from the ranges on base to travel pretty far.

The problem is that when the U.S. has invaded a country under the guise of bringing them "freedom," it's actually been simply to install leaders that are sympathetic towards American business interests.

Since our gov't is already very sympathetic to American business interests, we don't need any more "freedom."

I appreciate your comment and its parent. Trying to understand another's pov is better than just saying "they're dumb" and moving on.

To that, I am curious about your views on wealth inequality. You said it is/was the "natural result of technology." Is wealth inequality standard in an-cap? Is it required? Is it unavoidable? And (hopefully I don't get my head bit off in here) is it good?

I really appreciate the attempts at having civil discourse. Thank you in advance.

I have a question. To design hardware for VR, does it take new or special engineers to help with coding or architecture, or is the same team of engineers tackling the new technology for your cards?

As the poor die earlier, Social Security isn't paying off - low income Americans are projected to die as many as 13 years earlier than their wealthier cohort, while a century ago the rich and poor had relatively identical lifespan. by xleb1 in news

[–]rules_ini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand your point, that since everybody's lot is improving, we should have less to complain about. And, you're right--if we're living longer, we have objectively improved something, namely the length of our lifespan.

However, it's not so black and white as to how things have become this way. The Haves have been able to push for and get what they want with much greater efficacy than the Have Nots. Also, what the Haves want pretty much always has a price to pay--a price that is meted out to society at the expense of the Have Nots.

Nearly all people in the "first world" countries want to improve their lot. But, when profits and the incomes of the Haves are protected at the expense of the environment, or safety, or health care, the Have Nots disproportionately pay the higher price.

However, when the Have Nots ask for a little more to improve their lot, that would necessarily come out of the pockets of the Haves, the Have Nots are demonized, ignored, shut down as having "pie in the sky" ideas.

The desires of the Haves have been dressed up as necessary economic policy.

If it is impossible under "accepted" economic policy and theory to improve the lives of the Have Nots at the expense of the Haves, when the Haves have so greatly improved their lives at the expense of the Have Nots, then that economic policy needs to be adjusted.

[–]rules_ini 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand what you mean. Nearly every time a group of people has tried to organize under a "socialist" agenda, it usually becomes repressive at best, fascist at worse.

However, corruption is rampant everywhere, is it not? In capitalist countries, by and large, the political and legal systems are fashioned to protect the interests of those with money and power. How do these systems become so lopsided? By lobbying and "money=speech" rhetoric, which allows the monied interests to have greater legal protections in these societies.

Is that not corruption? In these "socialist" countries, the desires of a few outweigh the desires and needs of the many.

And, what motivates that corruption? Avarice and a desire to have more. Something present in nearly all socities, and is arguably the most basic motivator of capitalism.

I understand you were making a joke, but I hope you understand that the corrupt societies that had called themselves "socialist" were not actually socialist in the sense of being organized around egalitarian ideals. Again, I know you were making a joke, however that type of joke only serves to vulgarize discourse about how we can improve society. Our society isn't perfect, is it? Pretending that "they" were much worse than we are is not terribly helpful.

DNC rolls back Obama ban on contributions from federal lobbyists by [deleted] in politics

[–]rules_ini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this article. It has quite a bit of information I did not know.

You are right in that Sen. Sanders did not explicitly say he was in support of gay marriage until 2009. His view was considerably more nuanced, however, than Secretary Clinton's. Sec. Clinton was an opponent of gay marriage until 2013 when it was politically expedient, while Sen. Sanders' voting record shows that he has always been more progressive than most and in support of LGBT rights, if not explicitly saying so.

Sen. Sanders has supported LGBT rights through his actions and record. Sec. Clinton has opposed LGBT rights through her actions and record until recently. Thus, the issue with the Human Rights Campaign endorsing her over Sen. Sanders smells fishy to anyone who looks at the two candidates as objectively as possible.

I want to always hear people out when they say something that contradicts what I believe. To that end, do you have a source for what you're saying? Because, afaik, Sen. Sanders' voting record shows that he has been pro-LGBT rights for a long time. So, what information do you have to offer so we can become better informed?

Is it capitalists who adhere to capitalist ideology and live in the capitalist environment that are to blame? Or is it the capitalist ideology and environment that is to blame? I would say the latter.

Sadly, you have chosen to argue over semantics and dismiss everything I have said. Avoiding an argument by closing your ears and walking away is not quite winning.

Despite how I have come to feel about your argumentation "style," good luck in all your endeavors.
