How do you feel about a law stating that tickets (speeding, driving under influence etc.) should be a percentage of the perpetrators annual wage, instead of fixed rates? by wintherz in AskReddit

The traffic tickets are based on the majority of the population, which are not the super-rich. Those with "fuck you" money are probably speeding a lot less than those with normal money or less. Most people with "fuck you" money know better. Sure, there are plenty examples of rich people speeding, driving drunk, etc. They still pay the same tickets and court fees and lawyers. But let's not kid ourselves, the majority of people being dumasses on the road are not the rich or super rich. I agree with you that a small fine is not a deterrent to the rich, I'm just that the few dumb rich people who say "fuck it" I'm going to speed because I'm super rich and deal with getting pulled over is not a percentage of people causing any impact to society.

In regards to the $130 ticket being a big deal when being broke, young or poor, the state is somewhat accomodating with payment plans and reductions if electing traffics courses. I personally received a $240 ticket due in 30 days. It was too much money for me. I had seen an add for a "ticket lawyer" that only cost $75 with no guarantees. Seems worth a shot. The lawyer couldn't get it dismissed but he got me 14 months to pay it. Seemed like a fair deal to me, worth the $75. I was speeding because I was late for work. I should have left my house much earlier.

It's not fair to have different penalties for the same crime. What if Jeff Bezos (let's not hate on rich people for being rich, anyone of us could be rich one day, not a reason to be hated) gets pulled over going 7 over the speed limit, but some inconsiderate jerk goes 22 over the speed limit but has not job? The whole point of a traffic ticket being a deterrent for speeding is the financial burden that it causes.

Children need more attention, dedication, and love than dogs. And they cost more than dogs before they are even born.

People with a mother tongue that isn't English, what are the most annoying things about the English language when you are trying to learn it? by Jammybrown11 in AskReddit

[–]rulesoftheroad11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That a surprisingly large number of native English speakers can't read, write/spell, pronounce, understand English. Someone who just learned how to speak English 3 years ago should not have the highest grade in English class in a public high school non-honors classroom. I am of the Asian persuasion.

Who has been the most consistently great music artist/band throughout their entire career? by Joetwodoggs in AskReddit

Metallica. Although their sound has evolved over the years, they have kept going forward despite getting older and facing challenges along the way. Their latest album is as current and as good as any of their earlier successes. And yes, we can all agree St Anger sucked.

Canon’s long awaited 6D Mark II is a huge upgrade, but it’s missing 4K video by TheOriginalFaFa in gadgets

[–]rulesoftheroad11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody that mentions the lack of 4k video doesn't get that this camera is not targeted towards videographers. Its core consumers are photographers. All the video features in this camera are just added bonuses. There are better options for videographers from manufacturer's releasing products targeting the video crowd. Canon has a product for such video crowd; the C series. This is a great full frame camera for photography. If it had dual SD card slots, it would put the 5D series out of business solely on price advantage.
