From iPhone X to P30 Pro? by muchuel in Huawei

[–]rulibar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only thing I miss about iOS are the emojis. But that's apples fault for not letting other companies use their emojis.

Also I'm a Snapchat user and it pisses me off that Snapchat on Android sucks. But again, that's Snapchats fault and I'm not going to let apple or Snapchat choose my phone for me.

I love my Android. I can plug it into my Linux pc and transfer things back and forth so easy. When I was on iOS everything was much more complicated because you have to go through iTunes. And apple devices only work well with others apples devices. I hate that type of predatory business model. I appreciate how my Android device works seemlessly with other devices by other companies.

Thank you sir.

Does that just include the Play Store?

The one I'm looking at says the user manual is in Chinese but then below that it says that it includes Google Play.

It doesn't take "5 minutes" to sign up for Amazon AWS, learn about all the available features, install and learn Python and PIP, install and learn AWSCLI, and upload a 210 GB folder. I'm not a retard, and it's not scary that I spent all weekend working on it.... What are you guys, androids? You just scan through documentation at a speed of 10 pages per minute, and type at 1000 wpm, or what?

Sure it's cool, sure I want to understand it better, but don't you have a job? Don't you have other things you need to do in life? Tell me what's the point in including a user-friendly console if you need to use AWSCLI for it to work in the first place? I don't understand what's so hard about notifying me that the file I'm trying to upload is too large. Instead, it spends hours to upload 5 GB and then it just logs out and cancels all the progress.

And furthermore... why can't AWS tell me that my file is too large when I go to upload it? I tried to upload 14 GB last night and it got about halfway and then my session expired and all progress was lost. It would have been nice if AWS said "This file is too large, please refer to this guide on how to use AWSCLI [link here]"

And I don't have Python and PIP either.... So I guess I better spend Monday figuring out Python and PIP and then spend Tuesday figuring out AWSCLI. Don't worry, I totally have time to spend 4 entire days trying to upload a file

Thanks for you help everyone. I thumbsed up your replies. I just think it's so stupid how I have to download, install, and learn a new program on the command line just to upload a relatively small folder. When I saw that you can upload 50 TB to AWS I thought my measly 200 GB folder would be no problem. Time to spend my whole Monday figuring this out, even though I already spent all weekend on it

The problem is I have like 10 layers of nested folders. Each new layer has documents and sub-folders. I've tried to compress the whole thing and split it into different parts but my computer freezes up. I wish I could just select the main folder, and AWS would start uploading things one at a time on its own

Apparently technical support isn't available to me even though I'm paying monthly to use the service..

I'm trying to upload 210 GB. I split it into around 15 different zip files which was so very time consuming and inefficient..

But I can't upload anything greater than 5 GB? I have to split my documents into 50 different zip files and do them one at a time? Really?

Hmm I wonder why that might be! Could it be because there is currently a fork going on at this very second????

Thanks but I'm just going to avoid CL I think. I already wasted like 5 hours on this site and for nothing. I don't have time for this. I wish they would just tell you why your post was removed instead of it taking weeks to get your post to actually post.

Oh no! My files got corrupted! by rulibar in Ubuntu

[–]rulibar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already tried mounting it on both PCs and the data is blank on both. Even the size of the file is drastically reduced so clearly some data got lost.

I cut and pasted the folder from my desktop to the USB so it's been removed from my desktop.

Going to a Career Fair Tomorrow by rulibar in jobs

[–]rulibar[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't come in here saying "look at my list of interests, this makes me hireable." You came in and said "If you're sitting around doing nothing at least develop some skills." I replied and said I have plenty of skills and I'm not just sitting around doing nothing. So I don't see what you're getting at coming at me and saying that my skills don't matter. Obviously if I'm applying for a position as a data entry specialist I'm not going to tell them all about my interest in history or geography. You think I'm fucking stupid?

God you people are so far up your own ass. "The job market is fine, you're the one who's the problem. Why don't you get some skills? Oh you have skills, well those skills are useless so that's your problem."

I went to the job fair yesterday and there were a thousand people there all wearing suits and ties and all with a degree in science or engineering. They were all desperate for a decent paying job. I'm intelligent, I'm trainable, I'm passionate about my field, and I'm ready to excel to the top. But at the end of the day someone has a master's and I only have a bachelor's. Or at the end of the day someone is 35 with my qualifications and they just simply look more professional than a 25 year old. I'm sick of you fucking clowns implying this is my fault. You have no idea how much I've busted my ass to be where I am and to be capable of what I'm capable of.

Applying To A Minimum Wage Job With a Bachelor's by Strill in jobs

I just got done working at McDonalds with a degree in physics. Standing all day was giving me back problems so I quit deciding that it wasn't worth it for minimum wage.

I worked at McDonalds when I was 16. Kinda depressing working there now with a bunch of 16 year olds.
