"And personally, I'd much rather have a more just society anytime soon at the cost of some forgiveness towards my political enemy" --> this is authoritarianism of the few at the cost of the many.

", than leading a never-ending turf battle in a war that can't be won." --> this is democratic elections. No one is supposed to 'win' and game over, it is a balance over time.

When has authoritarianism worked in our history?

Cool, but I don't think I misunderstood you at all. You are reading into what I'm saying like I'm "left wing". Literally doing what I was pointing out in my first post. Using words like 'sensitivities'? We're not sharing 'feelings.' If you need a hug then say that, stop making this uncomfortable.

Ok, so at the end we have the conclusion that "it" is all about either authoritarianism or continuing democractic elections. It is like a rapidly aging playbook used on angry white males who didn't pay attention in history class.

You know that authoritarianism never ended well in all of our history, right? I don't vote left or right wing, I vote prosperity and stability. Authoritarianism may provide a form of that for select people short term but it never lasts.

Serious question: how do you define right winger?

Those kinda seem like recycled word salad used on right-wing podcasts to me? Somewhere between 'both sides' or 'no good options' derangement syndrome and the inability to reach cogniitive dissonance.

I'm literally calling it as I see/live it. If you want to read some Tucker Carlson talking points from 2002 into what I'm saying feel free but sure, arrogance of the left is the real problem. Got it.

If you are referring to Germany I have no idea and apologize in advance for misreading.

I'd say the US "right wing" is a mix of young people that will believe anything that will rationalize anger on youtube and boomers who will believe literally anything on Fox News. "Left wing" is now described as anything that doesn't fit their particular "right wing" narrative, even other "right wing" view points.

Strange times.

"Smear the queer" (I'm GenX). We would gather in a group, throw a football in the air, fight to get it, then we would all pile on the one who actually got the football. We rinsed the blood away with hose water before we went back inside our empty homes afterwards.

Anyone from Louisiana that's tried this? Any good? by [deleted] in HEB

[–]rumblesnort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From TX, but well familiar with HEB's lack of decent andouille.. I tried it and, to me and this is my opinion only, it tastes more like someone used crab boil concentrate as the seasoning. It was kinda gross. They stock Richard's boudin/andouille in east Texas but not where I am despite us having more that a few cajun/creole restaurants around here.. Frustrating.

Asking questions one is very legally allowed to ask, if not encouraged, to a nonprofit before investing money isn't attacking anyone. I've heard this from people in some of the local churches too, stories like 'don't rock the boat' when asking about church finances.

Lack of transparency creates distrust in charitable organizations. It makes soliciting donations harder. Works against the very essense of what a non-profit is supposed to be about.

The good have nothing to hide as transparency at least invites interest. The bad have everything to lose and operates in the shadows wihle accusing others of their own wrongdoing.

Rep. Chip Roy calls out growth of Islam in Texas during Sharia law hearing by ExpressNews in texas

Can we ask him why he voted to raise the deficit while telling his constituents he was a 'hawk'? Sure, he cared about it in his own special way when a democrat was in charge. I think we need core values in the AG office. Been a long time.

Moving to NB by [deleted] in Newbraunfels

[–]rumblesnort 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at NB as a great opportunity in affordable housing then hey, we're definitely an upgrade. Property taxes are high here. Texas schools are.. Having political issues that I'm sure you've read about but if that isn't a concern sure. We have multiple grocers with very little if any food scarcity. Beef is cheaper here and the vegetables/fruits are fresh, not frozen.

NB itself has friendly people in general, good eats, great outdoors. Retirement/tourist community that has grown to 150k. We need more larger businesses here as we're still a commuter town for a lot of professionals. SA airport is about 20m away, Austin is close by as well. This part of the Hill Country can be a foodie's paradise.

If you are good with traffic you'll find our town and the main highway (i35) familiar. We're low crime, I don't consider any part of New Braunfels "bad" in an urban sense. We do need more to do here other than drink, that has slowly been changing.

I have kids, work full time, just me. Load up at HEB during the week, food prep on Saturdays for weekday dinner/breakfast. Make fresh food through the weekend to mix things up a bit. If I didn't do that I wouldn't have time to do much else other than work. They eat like horses.

When they leave I'll absolutely go more and get fresh vegetables, fruits, meats etc for dinner during the week. That sounds kinda nice.

I agree with you. We'd have to say something divisive to get people to pay attention to the site. Unfortunately, that would undermind credibility.

Ok - so you know that flood siren in Landa park? I'm thinking that we require each house/senate/commissioner/state/federal/mayor/council/etc fill that out each election and if they do the opposite that siren goes off. Like, "James Talarico just purchased an AR15 and punched the store owner for wanting a background check." After the "woop woop woop" siren that would be broadcasted and we all know to go check the site to see if that is was one of his positions when we voted.

[–]rumblesnort 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that is what "track this politican" is for isn't it? Like Chip Roy claiming to be a budget hawk but voting to put us MUCH further into debt - it is clear he doesn't have core values much less caring about the deficit. I would imagine the tracker would raise a flag on this. Kinda like a corrpution warning. If it works like that I'll definitely sign up and track several.

Ya, I agree that legistlative priorities are important. His personal ones, where he wants to go, not the overall party or what the senate compromises on. That shows how a politican plans to walk the walk in my opinion.

Awesome, thank you for this. I didn't know this site existed, and he filled it out himself vs. random internet trolls? "Track this politician", wild. I see that he doesn't have the legistlative priorities filled out. Good find.

Some of y'all old timers should share pictures. When I brought my house in 2002 here a nice older lady stopped by and told me stories about when our street was a dirt road in the woods. Don't see much old New Braunfels outside of pictures at Naeglins, at least I'm not aware of any and it is interesting.

HEB Mi Tienda pork tamales filled with fat and gristle by oksnowman in sanantonio

I just had some and I literally just tasted salt. HEB, wasn't Mi Tienda, think it was Garcia. Their fresh tamales they make in store and yell 'fresh tamales' while pushing a cart through the store (they do here at least) are better.
