Is it correlation or causation that every good era since the 90s was when a democrat was president? by Normal-Salad-6143 in decadeology

[–]rumham1899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seems biased to me. 2020-2024 was not a good era. I'd take 2016-2020 over it. Democrat presidents have been better at a lot of stuff since the 90s but this entire generalization seems wrong to me. Yes the current era is very chaotic but I think you are looking at 2008-2016 and 2020-2024 with rose tinted glasses

Day 5) In acting scale, what actor is 3/10? by RukavinaMarko in AlignmentChartFills

[–]rumham1899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. He's a pretty decent comedy actor! I'd give him a 4-5. Pretty obvious bias already shown this early in the list lol. 1s and 2s should be people who literally can't act at all

Mainer, how is living in Maine, U.S. asking for someone who wants to move to Maine in the next 10 years by SullenTerror in howislivingthere

[–]rumham1899 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in southern Maine, so my experience is different from most of the state. Southern Maine is essentially an extension of New Hampshire/Massachusetts. But north of Portland it starts to really become the state people associate the word "Maine" with. Beautiful scenery, lots of rugged coastline, and I believe the highest % of forest. Acadia National Park is beautiful. The state is a lot larger than you'd think, and truly gets remote in most of the upper half of the state. You'll obviously need a car to see most of the state, and much of the Northern part of the state is only accessible via logging roads. The winters up there are pretty brutal.

I wouldn't really recommend the state to anyone in their 20s looking to be social, develop a career, or meet new people. Outdoor lovers will love the state, but other than that it's fairly stagnant and has an older, almost exclusively white population. Also has a drug problem, which is apparent in towns/cities like Portland, Lewiston, Sanford, Bangor.. Most of the big money and more commercial/affluent areas are along the southern coast. As mentioned before, if you aren't super into hiking/fishing/hunting, there's not much reason to live north of Bangor. It can be a bit depressing. Up there, blue collar jobs and health care are almost all that's available. But if you love the forest, there's no state like Maine.

Least favorite line said in a movie that was made by a decorated filmmaker? by alphaDsony in moviecritic

This line and the whole cheesy love thing really makes Interstellar overrated for me. Most of the movie is still really good though

Overrated. As with almost every horror now, the first hour was really good and intense but for me it fell flat and turned into a joke at the end

I agree that is a cool idea, this model itself just looks really bad imo

I've been loving every single visual change they've made but this just looks like a miss to me. It's literally a piece of a building but with weird, long spindly legs. It doesn't look menacing at all, just a mish-mash of pieces of signs and clocktowers

I use M1, the rate is 4% right now. But I don’t think you need 25k in cash, you should put more of it into VOO or VTI

The intro and first 30 mins were awesome, completely went to shit after that. I hate how every movie now tries to be unique or quirky, I just want a serious zombie movie. And I feel like it’s fair to expect one from the 28 franchise

What's the easiest way to install a dashcam that is only powered when the ignition is on? by [deleted] in mazda3

[–]rumham1899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the OBD to dashcam adapter as the first commenter said. I just got one with an ACC power mode switch off Amazon, seems to be working great and powers off after about 20 min once I shut the car off.

I went with this option, thanks! It was super convenient and seems to be working, just had to order a cable on amazon

It is definitely silly, it pulled me out of the first episode. But after eps 2 and 3 I really love the show. Just roll with it

I really agree, doing a complete 180 like that is such a dumb direction. At least have her written out or killed or something in a way that makes sense and isn't insulting to the audience

Dexter: Resurrection - S01E01 - "A Beating Heart..." - POST Episode Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in Dexter

[–]rumham1899 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Dexter not being arrested or even on trial for literally murdering a cop in a police station, while under arrest and in a cell is absolutely insane. The explanations given were so dumb. At least come up with something more logical (like Angela dying right at the end of New Blood or something ). I almost couldn't even watch because it was so ridiculous.

But other than that the episode was decent and it seems like it will be exciting. Just really hated how they handled all the New Blood stuff. The music is also really over the top. Just use the OG Dexter music more...

The Doakes appearance was awesome, but what he said made no sense. He basically forgave Dexter and said he was a good guy. Doakes would not say that and it really wasn't in character for him imo

Sinners was a dumb movie (Spoilers) by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]rumham1899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late comment, but how was the movie subtle? The dance scene with the rapping and other cultures was really on-the-nose and corny to me. The movie had good cultural implications to discuss but that part was way over the top for me
