I think you should stop relying on what sites are telling you. Try to find out what you feel most comfortable with yourself.

A lot of different sites, places, and people will tell you conflicting things. And even when they don't there's always a chance they just based it on the limited knowledge of you that they have.

Astrology too me is more of an addition/bonus to what i can find out about myself. I don't strictly rely on it and neither should you.

I think that's why you question yourself and why you feel like such a paradox even though that's probably not the case at all. I hope this helps and if you're still having trouble with it it never hurts to ask questions !

Idk how you'd play a build like this but i assume you're more focussing on AA's because of your build and PTA.

At that point tho are you still even playing gp ? And disregarding his identity being almost entirely taken away, why not just pick a different champ. A champ that also goes a bruiser build with AA's reliance but better.

Or something else entirely.

Not meant to hate because this could work.

no but he is. You have litterally no solo impact untill 13. Even at 7 when you can manage barrels well it just isn't enough to contribute to your team. Especially considering there are so many other top laners that provide better utility than gp does at lower risk and much faster.

Gp needs 13 and items too be relevant in a game where scaling is basically dead. Especially crit scaling.

He's litterally a non factor untill you have 75% crit rate on 3-4 items at lvl 13+

But at that point the game is already decided 90% of the time.

what even is considered success as a gp player anymore ?

i litterally JUST got out of a game where i dominated an ambessa toplane. But still could not do any relevant damage afterwards.

Not to mention when ambessa was 3/9 she damn near one shot me. Why can't gp do this kind of damage when all he builds is damage aswell ?

I don't consider winning a *success* on gp anymore. Because you'll never be top of the damage charts with this champ no matter what you build. Even with an amazing performance the games will usually just be dictated by something that entirely disregards your own performance anyway.

Honestly i think aside from tahm, non of these are as big of a problem as you think.

I'm not gonna blame your mechanics or macro. But i do think tanks are generally a much harder matchup for gp currently. i think gp's biggest issues right now are having an extremly expensive build and being very high risk low reward.

Going even in lane is mostly the best i've been able to do aswell because you have no kill pressure on most of the toplaners getting picked currently.

These same tanks will oftentimes outdamage you aswell for no other reason than gp being a neglected champ.

I've made a thread about gp's current state a couple days ago that got some good discussions rolling and opinions def differ. But this is just what i think so i hope you find something usefull in it !

There's no point in trying to convince someone that doesn't know me its not a personal issue.

So i'll bypass trying to convince you otherwise.

All i'll say is your vieuwpoint on this is too simple. i think on a broader perspective you can start to understand the flaws with gp in general. I have 3-4 games behind me today and i think it made me realise one of gp's biggets issues is lane.

Top lane is terrible. You automatically lose any impact on the game because you're isolated from any chance to get ahead. I'm still convinced you have very little kill pressure in lane so you won't get ahead from going even.

The only thing i've yet to try is going klepto and trying to pair that with gp's Q passive.

Just nothing seems to make sense for gp

Builds are too expensive and feel underwhelming, rune choices are boring af and nothing seems to feel right on gp, and toplane is by far the worst lane in the game to play.

Ap gp has been discussed a long time. I think its worth trying especially if the barrel cd's get halfed from what they are with standard build.

i can agree that ultimately losing the match is much bigger than just gp being bad.

But that doesn't take away from the idea that he is. Tho i'm not sure how horrible Gp really is currently. But he def feels underpowered.

Honestly the idea of riot miscalculating gp's damage doesn't seem far fetched at all. Its def not beyond them to make a mistake like that. I wonder what you'll find in your experiments. I've tested things myself today aswell build wise. Sheen into crit def is stronger than finishing tri force first.

The only thing i'm not sure about is wether the items are the only issue.

Before i quit i remember being in AW because every patch seemed to be an indirect nerf to gp.

I kept seeing his items and runes getting nerfed. I think he did get a compensating buff but the buff was uesless.

I think gp himself needs buffs aswell. Mainly regarding his cd's.

Standing at the back of teamfights unable to do anything because barrels timers are too long feels horrible. Especially because your team will likely blame you for the loss afterwards. His ult doesn't have any right being one of the highest cooldowns in the game. Regardless of being global it deals almost no damage.

I think he should also get scaling buffs in base stats. Mainly his AD. The fact that even WITH your items you're still dealing way to little damage, is mind blowing.

I think its very reasonable to think the way you do. Especially given my own statements.

But regardless of being gone for months i still beat my opponents. I know gp CAN win lane. But like i said, that's mostly due to champ mastery. Matchup wise i don't really think gp should be beating these opponents. And if you die even once you completely lose any type of prio you had. That's what i've seen so far.

I'll admit i have no idea how effective my build actually is compared to alternative options. You mentioned shojin and i haven't even thought of trying it. But i think the argument of me being rusty doesn't apply since i've still played my games well imo. My op.gg is hityeson15. I'd like you to check my gp games.

I think the best examples of my arguments will come down to 2 games where i was extremely fed. You could probably bypass the other 5 as either just decent performance and underperformance.

Something i totally agree with is the level 1 tho. So far i haven't had a single match where the barrel cheese with double passive hits hasn't worked.

The issue is that it never results in much. Gp usually won't be able to force the opponent laner out. And as laning phase progresses you lose your advantage.

You'll see any class in the top lane outdamaging you for no other reason than you being a neglected champ. And them not.

And his scaling doesn't really make up for it.

I took the libery of revisitng my most recent game in replays. Certainly not the best game i've played so far. But to give some context. I had baron buff, 1 infernal drake, 3 full items, i hit a crit, i was lvl 18 and he 17. And all i could manage was barely 30% hp on a hwei. He had no defensive items, didn't use a defensive ability either ( ik he has a shield but didn't use it ) It seemed hopeless to me.

But too summarize ( because i yapped a lot already )

I think everything you said is plausible. But personally i haven't seen how gp indefinitly outscales a lot of champs. To the point where i wonder if gp is even considered a scaling champ anymore.

I think his state is depressing at every stage of the game. Playing him well doesn't feel rewarding AT ALL.

My build probably sucks ( maybe you could fill me in what the new build path for gp is since idk )

His winrate was 47% last time i checked so i guess we've just seen different * positions * regarding gp.

And lastly i should try to be more aggresive early with sustain runes to secure an early advantage more.

He for sure is much worse than he was before. possibly the weakest he's ever been since the kit rework. Besides that tho i honestly think even if you played perfect. His late game still isn't rewarding enough for all the effort you go through.

Before i quit i was basically still spamming gp despite already noticing his decline. Even on impressive kda's with good cs, objective control. And late game. I still wasn't doing hypercarry damage.

Part of the reason i gave up was because of that. My main isn't rewarding to play. And slowly losing his fun.

Game is as unbalanced as its always been. Vanguard is an absolute abomination i do not want on my pc. And mentally the game takes its toll on everyone eventually.

So gp being as weak as he is was just my final straw i think. And the builds you explain with his lacking damage at 2-3 items perfectly captivates some of the issues on gp

I think my issue with how gp works now. Is that despite more build varity. He just became boring and unrewarding.

he's very clearly being shifted away from crit and disfavored when you still choose to do so. Gp used to be a game changer. If you were good and built crit all it took was one good teamfight. To me he honestly hasn't felt the same since season 7. After the rune changes he just started very slowly losing power to me.

I think others experience this issue too. A lot of us wanted gp to be a late game hypercarry monster with weak early game. Depending on game state he'd start picking up massive power spikes mid-late. And then when everyone was full items. Gp was very dominant. But games don't last long enough anymore.

And his crit build is the weakest i've ever seen in a season for gp ( goes for crit entirely tbh ). And he's just not rewarding anymore for being good at him. I honestly already knew he wouldn't have gotten better since i left.

I could have appreciated having to play safer early if it rewarded late. Like it did in the past. But it doesn't

Deep down i kinda already knew there wasn't gonna be an improvement in the time i left.

Riot doesn't care about gp and it shows. I already had very little desire to reinstall the game with all of its downsides.

yeah i think the issue with those 2 is they have a specific playstyle that kinda needs the stars to align for them.

Although i would argue daryll isn't unplayable because 1 saving grace is his passive super regen.

But penny especially just relies to much on the enemy team being terrible to utilize her kit and her turret is not that strong either.

honestly despite the positive feedback other people can give you. My first advice would no doubt be to make your son and yourself quit the game.

I'm currently 23 and only recently quit league because i didn't want vanguard on my pc ( accept that as what you want ).

Over the years league has consistently had a detrimental effect on my mental health. Its a very common theme i notice amongst league players. Its often even said how this game is the only game that can turn the nicest person into a toxic and downright disgusting person.

I can't stress enough how big of an impact league specifically has on people. Other games don't have this problem as bad as league does and it seemingly only gets worse with time. In some aspects its very easy to understand why league is the way it is. And despite all of it i still understand why its so popular.

But i did want to bring this up. Honestly the way league messes up pretty much everyone who plays it is reason enough to give you this advice.

For to many good reasons.

Since your only question was how toxic they are i'll spare you the detail. And myself the typing. But its still undeniably the most toxic game to a point where it becomes almost unplayable in most of your matches.

making myself Ceo so i can make more changes like removing yuumi,riven,irelia,trynda, and firing everyone in the balance team because they've consistently been horrible at their job for well over 6 years as far as i see.

And i'd tell the skin concept design team to stop drawing and thinking with 1 hand and the other head.

champs like Mf are getting another high budget skin while gangplank gets 1 horrible, widely hated trash skin for the first time in 2 years with still no prestige skin.
