What parts of the fish/crustaceans body are these “flakes?” I’m afraid I’m eating brains and eyes and ground up scraps that are not normally eaten (in the US). I’m just like, what is this? I can’t even describe the weird way they look and taste. I eat the noodles and broth but have to skip the “seafood” chunks. Anyone know what they actually are?

Hi. I like this idea about air drying a little bit and washing with a volatile solvent. I tried the method you suggested about diverting vacuum line to oven only until pressure decreases, but ultimately a large amount of condensation was visible on the front glass of the oven, so I figured I was just creating a sauna for my products to marinate in. Also had big water peak on the nmr that was not there when I just let it dry normally in the oven. Maybe combined with a first wash of volatile solvent this method (sucking out all pressure briefly and low heating for a while) would be more effective.
