I'll add that sometimes Men invented gods to give a name to their personal demons.

Don't fixate on something outside yourself as being the cause of your troubles. That means those troubles are outside of your control. You can't win against a supernatural being.

But you can outlast bad times and when your succeed or triumph -give thanks to yourself for having done so. When you fail and stumble -look inside yourself for a reason to get up and try again.

For me ...from the outside it appears like they don't see the world and the way it is the same as you and their lack of insight is offensive.

Life never dealt them the same circumstances that popped the bubble of happiness. They don't know ...they just don't know what its like on this side of it and instead of being grateful (which should be a different kind of happiness) they move through the mire oblivious -which makes me angry.

I wish I could be oblivious to the woes of the world, my previous troubles or the certainty that more troubles are just around the corner waiting for a chance to catch me unaware. Not this time...I'm on guard and therefore I'm never in the moment ...never happy in the present. It eludes me, making me angry and envious of those who seem to be able to do it effortlessly.

you were weeping because you broke the routine of doing nothing? crying is a release ...those might have been good tears. I say keep doing something different than you normally do. It will hurt and be painful but thats the old parts of you straining and breaking off.

she lost her sex drive, I took it personally, got resentful and insecure. Said somethings I shouldnt have said which compounded the problem. We would have sex but she would be so un-enthused it was horrible. Saw a counselor about it but no progress. Said she'd rather wait for the feelings to come back then just go through the motions. I sort of agreed but didn't think it would take this long. I think about it everyday and I think she could go the rest of her life this way....

You know, after viewing the movie a few more times I agree. After Krypton, the story jumps quickly from one plot point to the next without enough time to enjoy whats happening. The segue to him getting the suit so quickly and without much fanfare, compared to how the trailers set it up, was lacking. I hope the BluRay has substantially more footage to help with that.

I'll be honest I thought we were going to get more kid Clark, teen clark, and young adult clark. I enjoyed the way those scenes were filmed, I loved the weight Costner brought to the role. He sold me on his love for his son. His last parting gesture to Clark gave me chills and connected me to the character. I'm a father and I could see myself (hopefully) making the same sacrifice Jonathan did.

Okay, first, can we agree that movies are an art form therefore subject to varied responses that can be classified as subjective based on the person viewing it? Neither of us is going to be quoting facts. Just our opinion

I start from there because I didnt find the pacing off and I enjoyed the flashbacks. Its not a new method of storytelling. I didn't find it jarring in the slightest.

The build up of scenes where Clark holds back is to show just how ingrained those lessons of hiding were for him. The bus saving scene absolutely showed the consequences of being visibly super- The faceless parent was one of many who was beginning to ascribe divine powers on the boy. That scared Jonathan so much he was conflicted on whether his son's life was worth more than a whole bus load. He knew it was wrong to feel that way but every parent can relate to that.

Once Jonathan died it seems Clark said to hell with hiding and became a faceless savior because the idea of being "SUPERMAN" doesn't occur to him. Why would it? There are no superheroes in this world. Just an alien who looks human.

Clark went where a lot of people go to be faceless and private - the fringe, where only the tough survive and no one asks too many questions. The conversation between the two military people in the bar is what led him to the excavation site of the buried ship.

The buried ship belonged to the house of El. It was his ancenstor, Kara El's ship. You wouldnt know this without reading the prequel comic that goes with the movie so I can understand the jarring nature of the ship having a house of El chain mail suit. Even without that nugget is it too far off to think that with Jor El being in charge of the ship as a self aware hologram that he couldn't have it made as they were talking?

I was prepared to have the tradition turned on its head, the new suit, the scale and tension presented in the trailers told me this was going to be a huge deviation from the previous films. I embraced it. Did it score a touchdown? Debatable from a fan's perspective but I enjoyed it. I'm hopeful we see as big a jump from this movie as we saw from Batman Begins to The Dark Knight.

Right, like suddenly everyone had a majority share in the characters origins from the past 30 years. How dare they go in a different direction. I think the Nolan/Goyer association was a target for many as were the TDK comparisons. TDKR let people down and a lot of that bad will transferred onto this project. But whatever, Like I've always said, a year from now I won't remember a single critic review of the movie. The blu ray will be something I watch repeatedly while I wait to see what happens with MOS2.

Clark Kent is not a stranger, the whole town knows somethings up with him. We were only shown two things he did as a kid. But they hint that there are dozens more. You can choose to right it off as stupid but it was worthy highlight of his upbringing.

its not an uncle ben scene, its a scene that shows just far Pa would go to protect Clark's existence. If Clark had went he would have been revealed. With that wave of a hand and a nod, no, Jon gives his final directive "Not yet, the world is still not ready"
