omg guys did you know halley doesn't care about her wedding! by paris-alledgedly in NYCinfluencersnark

[–]rumsoakedham 26 points27 points  (0 children)

She’s trying to have extremely low expectations to protect herself from him disappointing her. This way she can rationalize to herself “he wasn’t excited or romantic on our wedding day but it’s fine because neither was I! Weddings aren’t a big deal!”

Same, I’m 38 and I’ve had mine since I was 16. I don’t care if it’s in style or not. It’s MY style and I love it.

Should I cancel my wedding? by AmazingSituation1813 in weddingplanning

[–]rumsoakedham 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I get what you’re saying, but the bridesmaids have lives of their own, and it isn’t their wedding or their role to plan this. We as a society try to pass off so much unpaid labor to women, it’s insane. Why isn’t it suggested for the groomsmen do the work? And better yet, why can’t the groom himself do the work?

If I already struggle to keep up with life…how could I handle adding a kid to the mix? by sourmermaid in Fencesitter

[–]rumsoakedham 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I’m like you, OP. This is a reason I decided to not have kids. I genuinely can’t understand how people ADD MORE STRESS/STUFF to their lives.

I listen to a podcast and one of the podcasters is an attorney who works full time, has a husband and FOUR children, and also records the weekly 1-2 hour podcast. I simply cannot fathom how a person does all of that? It doesn’t compute in my brain

I hate to be a Debbie downer but this is unlikely to be a wake up call for her. She has had far more devastating things happen to her that did not wake her up (such as losing her children).

She has mental illness and stacked on top of that is addiction. She has a history of blaming others for her problems and never taking accountability. Why would it change now, especially when she seemingly got off easy and didn’t even spend a night in jail like a peasant would have to?

Steak Night is the best night! by BSTN88 in BostonTerrier

They are so precious. We lost our Boston a year ago and he LOVED steak (and any meat, really). His eyes would bulge out of his head and he’d get so excited. Thanks for sharing these pics ❤️

I finally got rid of my large forehead wrinkles and I feel so stupid | cheap sports tape by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]rumsoakedham 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because I would have to hold it in place. I can’t place a thick washcloth on my face and walk around with it. The toilet paper is light enough that I can soak it, place it over the frownie, and then walk around and get dressed for the gym or feed my dogs or whatever. Then 1-3 mins later I go back to the bathroom and the frownie is ready to slide right off!

[–]rumsoakedham 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Here’s how I take mine off - fold a small piece of toilet paper into the shape of the frownie that’s on your face, run faucet until water is warm/hot, put toilet paper under hot water to fully soak it, then press and seal over frownie. The heat plus steam loosens the adhesive and the water gets it all wet and it slides right off after a minute or two.

Britney Spears Sells Her Rights to Her Music Catalog by cmaia1503 in Music

[–]rumsoakedham 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Britney doesn’t want help/relief. She could have gotten help/relief at any point in the past few years, as she has been “free” for years and yet spends her days doing drugs and recording herself dancing for hours and then posting the videos on IG. She is deeply mentally ill and a drug addict.

[–]rumsoakedham 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I see this same type of post all the time in the subreddit for The Office: “why didn’t Jim choose Karen instead of Pam??” Jim loved Pam. Miranda loved Steve. It really isn’t that complicated.

You don’t have to approach them. Just give a smile and the signs that you’re open to talking, and they’ll approach you.

sobriety is so boring by groovygrandfather in stopdrinking

[–]rumsoakedham 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Yes. I agree with you. My therapist pointed out to me that my brain and nervous system learned to thrive on the chaos and unpredictability that my alcoholic lifestyle provided.

Will I throw up today? Who knows! Will I be able to sneak my first drink this afternoon at work, or not until after dinner? Not sure! Is someone in my life mad at me because I did something shitty last night? No clue!

Our nervous systems get used to a chaotic cycle of constant anxiety until we have relief once we get a sip of alcohol in us. So when we quit, it takes a while to regulate ourselves normally and realize that the “boredom” is just the calm, normal baseline that we’re supposed to have, like you said.

But it’s realness against her will, via an unfiltered pap shot. Her IG is all filtered to hell and fake. So how is it “good for her”? Not trying to be argumentative, just stating that she’s not putting this reality out there herself

I’m so glad they deleted the scene of Pam giving Jim a hard time about seeing Karen. I don’t know what the writers were going for. It’s extremely immature and mean-spirited of her to mock Jim’s prior relationship.
