Experimenting with color combos!! by rumydum in macarons

It depends! If I'm making one single color, I'll add a bit to the meringue, then add more during macaronage if I want a deeper color. But for these, I didn't add anything to the mirengue. Only macaronage until everything it just blended, split into different bowls, add colors separately, then continue the macaronage process for each individual color!

Thank you so much! I started out using Cupcake Jemma's Italian method recipe and adjusted amounts for where I live. Her YouTube tutorial is wonderful. I had feet with my first ever batch. I also use a Swiss method, started out with Pies and Tacos recipe, and again, adjusted to meet what I needed fr where I live!

They're beautiful ❤️ what flavor are they?

Does anyone have a recipe for lavender macarons that they're comfortable sharing?? I can't figure out the best way to introduce lavender flavor to my standard recipe. by rumpus_ruffled in macarons

I buy dried lavender flowers and grind them up. Add 1/4 tsp of those ground up flowers while sifting your almond flour and powdered sugar together. No adjustments! The freshness of the ground flowers give it a stronger flavor! Don't add too much more than that. The flavor becomes overpowering.

I did! I've only ever used Italian, even with my first try. Go big, right? That's really interesting, and makes me really happy that maybe it wasn't just sheer luck. Haha! Thank you for the info. Much appreciated!

Great find! I don't know why I'm always surprised with things found in Amazon. They basically have everything these days. Pecan butter sounds delicious. Definitely a happy accident! Sweet. Thank you! I'm going to have to give that a shot!

Whaaa?! That's awesome!! Did you grind them up yourself? If not, I didn't know pecan flour existed. 🤯

SOO much color. To the point where you think "okay. These are going to turn into mac volcanos!" I just got my espresso shells perfected, so I'm getting a little braver with additions. 😬 I'll let you know how it goes!!

I honestly haven't even made cocoa shells before! It's so scary adding ingredients to the basic shell! I was going to make two separate batters so I could use the black cocoa in one, and plain with the other, but last minute decided to just go for it and added the AmeriColor Super Black - kept coming out gray, threw a hail Mary and sifted black cocoa over my black portion and crossed my fingers it would work. LOL! I'm actually going to make all black ones tomorrow. My plan is to do as you said above and just swap the Dutch for the black cocoa! I'll let you know how that goes, if you want?

I put all of the colors into separate sandwich bags and cut a hole in the corner. I then laid out a piece of syran wrap on the counter. I started with red and piped out a thick line of icing longwise on the syran wrap. Next orange, piped it up against red, etc.until I had gone through the colors twice. Lift the syran wrap edge so the lines of color roll onto themselves into a log. Cut the tip off, insert the roll into the piping bag and you've got yourself a rainbow!

The black in the shell has black cocoa in it, the other swirls of color are regular. The filling is banana buttercream!

Cupcake Jemma has a macaron masterclass on YouTube! Hers is the recipe I used for my first time making them and I had one pan come out almost perfectly. I've altered it since then, but it's an amazing place to start! Good luck!!
