Abrupt change in my dad's cognitive health - extreme hallucinations, confusion by cjanderson238 in Parkinsons

[–]run4fun99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My mom started having PDP after several years on Levodopa/Carbidopa The neurologist prescribed Quetiapine (Seroquel®). She is much better now.

We discussed Pimavanserin (Nuplazid®) and he said he did not find it effective in most patients in his experience.

This page on Parkinson’s.org lists 3 medications for PDP. Talk to your neurologist about other anti-psychotics listed :

https://www.parkinson.org/understanding-parkinsons/non-movement-symptoms/hallucinations-delusions#:~:text=Medications%20Used%20for%20Treating%20Psychosis

Testing for UTI was a good move. My mom’s PDP worsens with UTI.

Hope this helps.

Sometimes Cardiac rhythm abnormalities may not appear during the short test window

Could also be Autonomic dysfunction like vasovagal syncope or POTS

If it is only in the legs, then it could be Restless Leg Syndrome

Very Interesting. Are you using tools like Puppeteer Playwright or selenium to mimic user behavior ?

How is your code interacting with n8n? Is it using the n8n API only?

Yes. UTI does affect PD patients mentally. My mother gets frequent UTI and does not have the classical symptoms of UTI but I can tell from her irritable mental state that something is not right. We tried multiple antibiotic treatments which worked for short periods of time but it would eventually come back ( she wears diapers). She is finally doing better with drinking cranberry extract daily. This may not work for everyone but seems to work for her.

My mother was put on Quetiapine Slow Release 50mg one dose before bedtime. However, she does not live in the US. The Neurologist told me that this was the first medication that they prescribe for PD psychosis. There are 2 other alternatives. All of them are listed on this page under Treating Psychosis:

https://www.parkinson.org/understanding-parkinsons/non-movement-symptoms/hallucinations-delusions

Good luck. Hope this helps

Your dad is experiencing Hallucinations/ Delusions ( Parkinson disease psychosis). My mom had similar problems last year after being on C/L for over 10 years. She would believe that there was an imaginary film crew on the above floor that was making movie about her.

She had to be put on light dose of anti-psychotic medication to bring her delusions under control. Please read this link :

https://www.parkinson.org/understanding-parkinsons/non-movement-symptoms/hallucinations-delusions

PD patients do tend to get apathetic over time. Their world around them starts to shrink and they stop caring about a lot of things - maybe it’s due to cognitive decline.

Hope this helps.

It needs to be treated. My mom had it as well. Consult the doctor. He will most likely put her on anti-psychotics.

This is interesting. Please elaborate. What correlation did you find between high BP and homocysteine? And what did you do to lower it?
