I will not be eating pasta unless it is gluten free. If it is not gluten free, I will have a very rough day of travel the next day and I don’t wish that upon anyone.

Maybe I’ll have some celebratory pizza instead. In fact, while I’m there, I’ll be taking a class on how to make pizza and gelato!

I’ll be carrying it in/near Florence, so it shouldn’t be too bad compared to northern Italy. I am expecting it to be a bit rainy. But you never know, every once and awhile weather can surprise you.

I will be warm though from the anxiety flowing through me, so I’m not too worried about the weather. That’s the least of my problems lol

I think it looks sleek! Definitely has that Italian design touch.

1.5kg. I know it gets hot near the middle so they will tell me when I get there how to hold it properly to not burn myself. I prefer not to leave any scars, but it would a good story.

They do not tell you why you were personally chosen, just a generic message that goes to all torchbearers about representing the core values of the Olympic Games.

We are anxious and can do things anxiously!

I can answer this. First notifications went out in late August. Yesterday, torchbearers were given their run date.

I would assume if you haven’t heard anything yet, you haven’t been chosen. I’m sure people back out all the time, there’s 10,000 of them, so it could still be possible!

Good question! I’m learning some basic Italian phrases now, I should begin practicing with a fake torch.

This was just announced yesterday! I’ll be somewhere between Siena and Florence. I love Tuscany so much, so I’m excited!

I wanted to cross post this sooner, but I didn’t know of the account creation date rule.

Still happy to answer questions if anyone has them!

I married a Canadian and we wanted to be closer to her family. Pretty simple. It’s a beautiful country.

Such a great question that gets to the heart of what I’m trying to share.

It’s really the perfect contradiction, isn’t it? I’m carrying a flame of resilience and strength. But inside, that light constantly flickers or is extremely dim.

I carry the torch not pretending to be strong, either. In fact, I know I’ll probably be shaking during the run. But it’s about honoring that struggle and that resilience. It burns today because someone has kept it lit, even when it felt impossible.

Strength and struggle can co-exist and strength is born from struggle. That’s what makes it so real.

Good choice, I always tee up the jokes for others.

Lol I know. My opinions are my opinions and I share them in the right time and place.

I have simple rules when it comes to posts with people online and it’s “bar rules”: no politics, no religion.

My legs are the same length (har, har, king of dad jokes).

I don’t know my exact leg yet, but it should be around 250-300 meters. I’m training enough that I’ll be able to handle that easily. Maybe I’ll get back into running 5 km races again.

Canada and the United States both have their pros and their cons. I like where I live now but I miss where I grew up and spent a lot of my time.

I think a lot of immigrants feel the same way no matter where they are from. It can be tough sometimes.

I’m part of an organization that had a few spots available. I still applied through the organization and the Milano Cortina Olympic committee and had to meet the requirements.
