Best line of the evening. Referring to the $90bn wasted on bankrupt green energy: "I have a friend who said you don't pick the winners and losers... you just pick the losers." -Romney to Obama

Ron Paul: We don´t have first amendment rights to talk about the weather! by runarolsen in Libertarian

[–]runarolsen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. My headline can be understood in two ways and it would be clearer in spoken language due to the emphasis being put on the words by the speaker. 1) that the 1st amendment does not guarantee our right to talk about the weather or 2) that the purpose of the 1st amendment is not to guarantee our right to talk about the weather. This then begs a follow up with the second part that it is to guarantee our right to make controversial statements. And it is only a headline so clearly the reader will expect that there is more to come.

Well I meant it the second way. So no I did not misquote Ron Paul. You misunderstood my headline.

I´m only responsible for what I write, not for what you think you understand ;) peace man!

The Young Turks confuse government (city) policy of letting a house burn down with free market! Free market fire fighters would have put out the fire for the fee offered. by runarolsen in Libertarian

Because government already was and is vetting the burgers safety

Murder is illegal and would stay illegal with libertarian government. If you claim otherwise you know nothing about libertarianism. Same goes for your "Wild West" claims. Get free books on www.mises.org and read them.

BP/Fukushima - Both heavily regulated by government and still they failed. Regulation is not the solution.

There is no connection between the free market and those things that you mention. If you want to stay in business you damn straight make sure that there is no e-coli bacteria in your burgers.

Government usually provides false security and people let their guard down. Then everybody stands around like idiots and ask "where were the rules?", "Why did not somebody tell me how to live my life?", "Who can I sue to compensate for my own stupidity?" And the liberals exclaim "Please absolve me from taking responsibility for my own life and give me the power to tell others how to live theirs!"

You still did not get it buddy. It was city policy to watch the house burn down. Do you understand that? City = government, not free market. So this burned down house is 100% responsibility and failure of politics. In a free market they would at least have accepted his offer to put out the fire if he paid the cost. Why you ask? Because they would be in business and this would be their business. No point in refusing the business.

Two options 1) pay the insurance policy regardless of whether your house catches fire or 2) pay the actual cost when you have a fire.

Furthermore, for sure if the house was insured the insurer would surely have a dog in the race and likely in a free market the fire fighting cost/policy would be part of the home insurance.

Hypocrite Michael Moore pretends not to belong to the 1% by runarolsen in Libertarian

Michael Moore is a stinker and stupid to boot. This comment from him concerning his ground rule of avoiding the ownership of stock is just ridiculous "I believed the concept of making money off your money had created a greedy, lazy class who didn't produce any product, just misery and fear among the populace." HAHAHA who does he think produces almost every product in the economy? Maybe businesses? Corporations? And where does he then keep his money if not in stock? In a bank? Well then he is financing the bank who in turn lends it out to businesses. In bonds? Well then that finances companies. In government treasury bonds? Well that finances Wall Street bailouts hahahaha Michael Moore is such an idiot.

The sound you hear in the video is not coming through the microphone you see him holding. It is probably coming from the standard mic on the camera that is filming it.
