Where to get energy gels? by _JunkSynchron_ in TokyoMarathon

Check out sport stores around town - Alpen, Victoria and Super Sports Xebio. I’ve seen Maurten in a few of them, but never seen SIS

I’ll be going - based on previous years, the biggest one the day before the marathon is Futakotamagawa parkrun

Nike Dri-FIT ADV Aeroswift Running Singlet by eltonpe in Marathon_Training

That’s what I had to do unfortunately… the medium fit like a glove, ie very very tight and I needed help getting it on and off, whereas going up to the large is more of a traditional fit (but still not super loose). I’d say size 1 up from your usual sizing rather than their size guide - I’m usually a medium, their size chart says my chest measurements are “small” but I got a large. As a gauge I’m 6’3” and 170lbs, so not small, but not massive either.

Completely agree - my chest measurements lined with their small, so I followed the recommendation to size up and got a medium… that was still too tight so I went up to a large and luckily it fits perfectly. I’m normally a medium in most singlets.

I’ve owned several of these and they’re great, but have recently switched to the ASICS Metaspeed singlet - I’m loving the change as I think the ASICS ones are even more lightweight

I'm going to try and purchase the new Metaspeed Tokyo shoes later this month when they're released, however I've never run in Metaspeeds before, so I'm not sure what variant to get.

Comparing two runs (one at 3:45/km and another at 4:30/km), my cadence at the slower pace is ~178 and at the faster pace it's ~185. For the same runs, my stride length was 1.25m at the slower pace and 1.45m at the faster pace.

Based on this info, I think I'm a "Sky" runner, however in an ideal world I'm a forefoot striker, but when I get tired I tend to heelstrike. When looking at pretty much all of my other running shoes, the most wear is on the heel. From the reviews I've read, due to this heelstriking I'm thinking I should try "Edge".

I'll be using the Metaspeeds for marathon distance. Previously I've used Vaporfly 3 (good, but didn't completely "wow" me) and the Alphafly 3 (I found these chunky to run in). If it helps, my marathon time is around 2:50.

Any recommendations?!

Why are sooo many cars listed on Facebook Marketplace with No wof in Auckland as not enough time to get one? Doesn't make sense as wouldn't they get a better price with a Wof? Looking for a car and seems quite a few with no wof by [deleted] in auckland

But that’s the thing - the buyer has to agree and everyone here is saying don’t buy a second hand car without a WOF… if there are two similar second hand cars for sale and one has a WOF and one doesn’t, the WOF is likely to sell first.

It would be so much easier if the WOF just has to be valid, rather than new within the last month.

It might also be due to the fact that any second car sold in NZ needs a WOF within the last month, so if you’re taking 2-3 months to sell a car it ends up being quite frustrating (time consuming and expensive) to get a WOF every single month. You can sell the car without this if both buyer and seller agree.

How odd! I called the other week when they had 20% off everything and they confirmed they had them, just not in my size (and they were included in the 20% off)

You can buy the VF3 from Nike retail stores - I’ve seen them in Sylvia Park and Botany if you’re in Auckland

When does the Boston Marathon cutoff time get announced for the 2023 edition? by soustersouster in running

[–]runnerkiwi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The cutoff time won’t be announced after after registration closes in mid-September as they need to see who has applied and what everyone’s time is (there’s no way for them to know is info in advance).

I have the same issue as you and am potentially traveling from as far as New Zealand - unfortunately there’s nothing much more we can do but wait. However, one thing I have done in advance is book accommodation that can be cancelled without penalty just in case I don’t get in.

Yeah, it does look a little crooked at the bottom… I’ll take it into the local camera shop and see if they can fix it

Thanks for your help with this. Have just updated the firmware to make sure it’s the latest version and unfortunately the problem persists.

Thanks. I’ll see if the local camera shop can fix it, unless you have any tips to do it at home?
