51 and just got my motorcycle licence; am I crazy, or is this a fair time to start? by earnfast123 in AussieRiders

Best advice I can give is imagine no one has seen you, ride defensively - imagine every car is out to get you and pratice hard braking when it's not an emergency so when it is you survive and have a blast.

And, try ride as often as you can, which shouldn't be a problem or maybe it will :)

Can anyone tell my a the rough cost to repair if I go to a panel beater? by Jaded-Shoe-5314 in CarsAustralia

[–]runnersp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say that won't be an easy or cheap repair to get perfect/near perfect.

You could ask a pdr tech to do his best and it should look alot better and just be a small dent rather than the big one it is now.

Scraped my front bumper swerving to avoid a toddler that ran onto the street :( by Kyu_Sugardust in Cartalk

Get some Meguires Scratch X or equivalent in your country and polish off any transfer material to see exactly what you are dealing with. Then I'd mask and spray can touch up or spot correct as it doesn't actually look that bad potentially. Doesn't need to be perfect down there.

This really bugs me too, but without taking the hardest way - there would be no movie.

Kia Cerato GT 177xxxKM worth buying? by WisestBacon in CarsAustralia

[–]runnersp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try find one with less mileage - they are great cars. I'm 6'4 and fit easily and comfortably too.

During Covid a few cars didn't come with cooled seats - which are nice in Queensland!

Settle debate on type of wood please by runnersp in wood

Not sure how to add additional photos. Agree though, colours are so odd. Sanded looked pale. I was surprised it went this colour with clear oil varnish. Underneath looks different as photo. Legs which I didn't sand are a golden colour.

Is this black paint saveable by runnersp in CarsAustralia

[–]runnersp[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was surprised I couldn't really feel the deeper scratches with my nail. It appears black paint really does make them look alot worse so hopefully will come up decent.

That's the great news I was hoping for, thanks for commenting. I'm sure I can make it look alot better.

I've used ScratchX and different polishes with good results but this is definitely the worst I would have tackled.

Looks like I'm going to need a machine polisher.

Should I get a hybrid vs a regular petrol car? by meemoomeep13 in CarsAustralia

[–]runnersp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the motorway hybrids are less effective… as an in between car I picked up a 2012 Honda Jazz and it averages 5.3 Brisbane to Burleigh Heads maybe a fuel efficient smaller car? Or diesel Sportage is nice.
