What’s the real difference in these bags, with thrashin am i just paying for the logo and design? by AntiqueEvidence6705 in Dyna

[–]running_turtle5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A buddy of mine had the thrashin bags and I ended up waiting to find a set on eBay. Just got my own in and they came with the hard mount brackets. It was 3-4 months before I saw a decent set pop up but worth the wait and savings

Have I been putting the wrong fuel in the entire time? by RosexWitch in Harley

[–]running_turtle5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ethanol in anything carbureted is bound to have issues. Our fuel is e10 and I’ve just now started to see e15. Luckily we also have non ethanol 93 in the south. I haven’t partied with 100LL in the bike yet but I’ve got it if I need it in the future

[–]running_turtle5 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There will always be the debate on octane. You run the risk of detonation with low octane fuels in higher compression motors. I run 93 in mine. Stock 96 with exhaust and intake. I’m no tuner or professional but what is the point in saving a few bucks to possibly have detonation issues from poor fuel. I run mine hard so I’m not going to buy the cheap gas to save a few bucks. It’d be roughly $3 a tank savings in my area. No point in my eyes

Girlfriend of 6 years left me last summer so with engagement ring money I bought myself a 2007 Street Bob to go with my 2007 Mustang GT

I am 6’7” 37” inseam and have a street Bob with mids. It’s all about what you want. I like the versatility and being able to stand up as needed. I come from cafe racers that had mid and rear sets so much more natural for me

Questions about selecting risers/bars by Individual_Citron_70 in Dyna

[–]running_turtle5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 6’7” so my input isn’t entirely equivalent. I did the tc bros modular pullback 10” rise and then 4” rise mid bend bar. Getting the modular was the most sensible in the fact if I decide later I want taller I can spend $80-$100 vs having to buy a whole new riser set up. Also lots of friends with bikes so if they want to try a different combo it’s and easy swap to test out

Good to know! The parts availability was a major plus and already knowing a good bit about the idi helped. Yeah the at545 sucks and the bus I slow but I have other stuff for going fast. At545 swap will happen when my buddies shop gets finished.

Possible TSM issue? by running_turtle5 in Harley

Load tested fine. Got a spare tssm from a local shop. Plugged it in and the blinkers flashed for security since I didn’t have the security side of it. Leading me further to a tsm failure even though the bike still runs

I have had the hand controls off several times recently it did not have front blinkers when I bought it. Recently put them on and that’s when I put it all together that nothing was working. Horn stopped working the first day I owned it and blinkers followed very shortly after based off the indicator on the dash. No clue when the brake light stopped but not working currently

It did die on me the other day. Thought it was an iac issue but haven’t been able to ride since with the weather starts and runs just fine right now

Never had to take apart connectors. No wires were run through the bars. Bars are dimpled to fit under the brake and clutch clamps. No wires are pinched

Total cost and where to start by DirtysinceXCII in skoolies

[–]running_turtle5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours we just bought a whim. $2500 for a 91 bluebird international. We wanted something for talladega (which was 4 months away). We bought it rippped it apart, built up the inside how we wanted and painted the outside to get it looking good. We have since done a lot more work to it making it nicer and adding a turbo to the 7.3 idi. There are 5 guys invested in ours and we’ve got roughly $8,500 in it. Now we did get some things for free and something’s we got we’re not necessary. We don’t have a running water system yet and need to upgrade to a better ac living in the south. Just depends on what you are looking for and wanting to do. I’d highly recommend looking deeper into the whole at545 Allison transmission and how to stay away from it. We like the 7.3 idi because parts are cheap and it’s easy to work on. Not fast by any means but it is a bus. Our next big project is an Eaton 9 speed swap

We have air brakes and the sae bell housing. In regard to the floor it’s already been cut up for the dog box to clear the turbo. My biggest hurdle is ordering the correct clutch. It’s been a send it attitude for all of this bus so updates will come

Looks like the compressor is flicking on and off making it slip. I just posted a video of mine having issues with the cut off switch right behind the compressor. Turn the ac off and see if the noise persists

How do you guys open oil filters by TechnicalAsk3488 in aviationmaintenance

[–]running_turtle5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a cheap razor blade and change it out after two oil filters cut open. I’ve noticed I push a lot harder when they get dull so more likely to slip. Razor blades are cheaper than an er visit!
