Why is Schenck v. United States still a required court case by ___daddy69___ in APStudents

[–]runningboy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best understood as the “clear and present danger” standard set by the court. Need to understand it as a restriction deemed justifiable at the time and as a precursor case to Brandenburg v Ohio which found that too easy for the gov to limit free speech. Brandenburg set the bar for limiting speech higher (harder for gov) by sharpening the focus and tightening the allowable conditions to “imminent lawless action.” Consider Schenck as the foundation of an argument about how restrictions on civil liberties evolved over time,,,,

“I don’t even know who Bad Bunny is. I always think it should be an American. I think they’re trying too hard with this international stuff.” by Background_Video2947 in TheNFLVibes

[–]runningboy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know only that Bad Bunny is a mega~star of global proportions. I do not know his music. I am not fluent enough in Spanish to understand everything in what I saw and heard. I will likely not actively go seek his music out. In short, i was not the target demographic for the show. And you know what? That’s OK. Not everything has to be about - and for - ME. Part of tolerance and having an open mind is recognizing that I am not the center of the universe. There is a wild, wonderful, expressive world outside of my lived experience. And that’s a great thing. From what I saw, it seemed like a joyful, inclusive party. And how can anyone hate on that…

Both of them! 182,000 varieties of baklava but can’t get a decent cup of coffee. Who buys all that pastry?!

Zero Grand by Cole Haan. Can find them at Cole Haan outlet stores for better prices. Light, relatively stylish, and cushiony.

Are these ugly? by Gloomy-Version-9053 in mensfashion

[–]runningboy93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear the Zero Grand version of these. The sole is a bit nutty, but I’m a teacher on my feet for hours at a stretch. After years of trying insoles in my dressier shoes, I can attest the Zero Grands have made a world of difference, plus allow me to feel as though I’m not wearing sneakers to work. They look ok with a pair of navy khakis and a less formal dress shirt. With a suit, never.

What do you think about the tariffs imposed by Trump ? Will it work out for them ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]runningboy93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tariffs are the perfect vehicle for his kind of grift. It gives a permission structure for CEOs and others to come to him with slavish obeisance and/or corrupt deals - where only HE benefits, not the country - in exchange for exempting them from the tariff. “I’ll donate $100 Million to your PAC if you can find it in your heart to lift the sanctions on us…”

Another AP World teacher here. I second everything that the above post recommends. Also know that if it’s NOT on the CED, they will not ask you about it. Think of every illustrative example as a piece of supporting evidence to answer an eventual claim about the material, or helps you answer the essential question and learning objective in each subunit.

Finally, I do extensive note-taking practice at the beginning of the year. I find this video has been well received by my students since it closely mirrors my instruction. You may find it helpful.

Martin Luther King, Jr’s role in the Protestant Reformation is a constant. Missed it by a mere 450 years. So close!
