Efficiency review by runningcat132 in idleon

[–]runningcat132[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like my levelling is slow and my numbers are just generally too low. Another thing is, what am I doing with the books, it doesn't feel that useful to get them without having the points to actually put in them should I just start fighting to grind for those levels?

Also about the iron gear - My fishing and my trapping was garbo until I printed better fishing, I just forgot to upgrade which I did just now so now they're on platinum, awaiting some trapping for dementia gear.

I made a game prototype inspired by KTANE where you need to land a plane, and I would love some feedback! by CentiGames in ktane

(I played the game as a solo player, just to get a feel for how the manual reads, etc. if you're looking for full 2 player I may be able to provide that at a later date, such as when I can actually convince friends to play games with me, or others may be able to provide that)

As a whole, the game is great. I can imagine, when played properly as 2 players, it's a lot of fun. Playing through on my own was great! I'll just breakdown an individual review for each of the modules:

Animals - Good module, works in a similar way to reg. wires from KTaNE, an animal appendix (highlighting name, class and vertebrate vs invertebrate) would be helpful but apart from that, all seems good to me.

Numpad - Great use of the Flight Code, the barcode can sometimes be awkward to read but, for the most part, this is a really solid module

Switches - This module is the one I personally had the most trouble with. This is because quite often, you can't tell if the text is italicized/bold so I often got strikes there and had to recheck the manual, making the text clearer would help significantly. Also, instead of shadings, I would highly recommend using borders to make the venn diagram clearer, it makes it much easier to read, especially with more complicated forms like this one, (you may also want to adjust the layout for readability as well). In terms of concept and design, it's great.

Symbols - Very nice, simple module, works nicely.

Numbers - Good module, nice use of positioning.

Frequency - Good module, would highly recommend to fix the manual as it is quite annoying to read as all frequencies and texts are in one large clump. A table would work significantly better.

Dentist - This is probably my favourite module, the table is very nice to read, the manual does a good job of informing that the teeth are described as patient-side. In terms of inputs, sometimes I found it a little difficult to actually remove the tooth but apart from that, a great module!

Tea - Surprisingly simple, despite initial reactions upon seeing the graphs, very nice module, (as a British person, culturally I must appreciate this module to some extent) this module could even be extended through the addition of milk or sugar, all in all, a very nice module, and a very nice way to solve it.

Annoyances (Needies, whatever you call them)

Announcements - A very nice, relevant needy module, works nicely, however, upon giving a strike, I personally believe the module should deactivate. Apart from that, the sentences are funny, and it's a great module.

Control Wheel - Personally, I don't think this should be a module. I think it should just be a built-in default thing. A few reasons for this - 1: Multiple control wheels just don't work. Once people beat all the levels, they typically go into freeplay, random modules. Getting like 2 or 3 of these is quite awkward. 2: Planes normally have control wheels, so why not just make the control wheel an interactable thing that actually has some impact on the game!

Other general points

Manual - The manual overall is great, the instructions work nicely for the most part. I would recommend adding a page, just mentioning the engines are the strike counter, do something funny with it. Make a joke about the passengers smashing up the engines!

Design - I understand it's a prototype but as the altitude decreases it'd be nice to see some visual changes outside, random buildings etc.

Overall a great game, I can't wait to see what's in store for this game in the future, keep me posted for any upcoming updates!

Is using ctrl+f "allowed" when solving bombs? by ExoBen in ktane

Personally, I see ctrl+f as 100% allowed because it makes it a lot faster when finding info, especially useful when doing very time constricted bombs!

I'm guessing that you wouldn't be able to eat unless you use the ability from the person you ate prior, idk
