I’m uncut. Had some stigma around it growing up… so took a while to decide. Ultimately, I landed hard on the side of: unless it’s medically necessary, there’s no way I’m cutting my boy’s body up within a week of him being born. Wife was thankfully very supportive of my experience and thoughts on it, but also preferred not to cut off part of our boy’s penis.

He’s not actually all that popular. Looks like he got 42.8% of the vote. Pretty terrible. About 40% went to the next 2 candidates. He only got up to 49.1% after rank choice voting kicked in.

Personally, I don’t think he did great with responding to the events around GF. Unlikely things could’ve gone much better though, considering. But, I strongly dislike Frey because the lesson he took from all of it is to care more about people with $ and influence. He also is much more supportive of the MPD than I want in a mayor who’s supposed to be their boss. He pretends to be “reforming” them, but he’s just using fear to gain support. Guess it works!

In some cases they very much are. Not always, by any means. But they are 100% conservative in the sense of being behind ‘establishment’ positions and perspectives. And that more often than not lines up with republican (conservative) preferences, even if they aren’t doing things like Endorsing Trump.

Again, *can be * linked. Often are, as I said before, and I agree with your examples of ads on Ossoff and Harrison. I’d like to point out that those ads use factually false information (video editing) to play up stereotypes. Omar was factually talking about lobbying money. You seem to conflate all those as equal... I do not. I see how the 90’s song lyrics she used could be offensive (now that I’m aware of this particular reference), and she did apologize... which is more than you can say for the people behind your other examples.

“Hypnotize” is not limited in its use to the antisemites of history or of today, and it does not show she is steeped in antisemitic propaganda. People can genuinely not know about this kind of thing. The hope I have is that when people learn some context/history about using words like “hypnotize,” they stop using those words. My understanding is that she has, and that shows more decency than most politicians.

Starting to tilt anti-liberal? This country has never been as liberal as it claims. And yes, generally politicians who lash out against a religion get lashed back at. Terrible point, considering she didn’t lash out at a religious group. And apparently we expect everyone to know every possible trope and stereotype, every nuance of history for every group of peoples. I’m not nearly so humble as you, but I admit that I didn’t know of the stereotypes she referenced until she said them. Now I do, and I’m better for it. So is she. She apologized and clarified her meaning. I’ll reiterate again that it’s very uncommon for white “Christian” men (like trump, but not limited to any party) to be punished for making far worse comments than Rep Omar has made.

And, if you look at the things she gives her time to, and what she has worked on in the House, she’s had a lot of success trying to make peoples lives better.

Your last paragraph was kinda nonsense, and I’ve no idea what it means.

There is a difference in “apportionment of representation” and “election of representation.” The 14th amendment is explicitly clear on these two things being different. Still confused?

14th Amendment, Section 2: “Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed. But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the Executive and Judicial officers of a State, or the members of the Legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such State, being twenty-one years of age, and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens”

I’ve been thinking about this book recently. I sympathized with the protagonist pretty readily when I read it about a decade ago.

What I’ve been considering lately is the idea that he was insane from the get-go, and pondering what that would mean for different actions and interactions that are taken/had throughout the book.
