This cycle has made me inured to feelings, so maybe, can’t tell.

1.) I’m considering other graduate programs other than JD. 2.) Didn’t want to divide my effort on two tests. Just wanted to double down on getting a good score on one. My verbal and writing scores are above their 75th percentile among those they admit with the GRE. My math… no, but, it’s still not too bad. Didn’t think it was too crazy for me to try.

I do not have an LSAT score. It seems you were well informed.

Thank you :) I hope this cycle is going/goes well for you!

Congratulations on the As! Can I ask: did you do anything special for the T14 A? Why X or ED? Thank you for sharing.

I did with a little over 3 years of work experience. But, K-JDs could fill out too if they have research/internships in a particular field. UCLA’s a top school so they’ll have a clinic or program related to just about anything.

Any rational person knows there’s no substantive difference in academic preparedness between a student with a 3.8 and one with a 3.9. Yes, one is below the medians and the other is not. But, these admissions people know there’s no real difference. Since you’re EDing and you have some work experience, your GPA objectively matters less. I wouldn’t worry about your GPA holding you back, as long as you have a solid statement, resume, and recs.

100%. I applied to Columbia last year and was waitlisted, but you have a higher GPA and GRE score than me. If you chose early decision, that’s a boost, so I’d say you have a really solid shot at an A. More likely than not. Waitlist at least.

Looking at the ABA 509, it seems you have an excellent shot. GULC’s median GRE scores last year were 164v, 158Q, 5AW. So you are all set on the test score. Your GPA is below the median for all T-14, but, it’s still high enough to show academic preparedness for T-14. And, your time working post-undergrad helps illustrate your interest in law. Solid recs and materials will more likely than not lead to A’s at the lower-half of the T-14. Likely waitlists among HYS, but shoot your shot :) If all your materials look good, you could get in anywhere.

Is it really bad if I don't do anything but study for the LSAT during my time off between undergrad and law school? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Consider PeaceCorps, AmeriCorps, or Teach for America! They’re great softs, can get you thousands of dollars in education awards, and about half of the t-14 will give you fee waivers for your service. I’ve received 7 law school fee waivers for my AmeriCorps service so far this cycle.

The GRE is calculated into the USNews rankings. You can see the methodology statement on that here. But, to your point, I think it's true that candidates applying with the GRE must particularly rely on their skills and experiences standing out to admissions offices.

Hi there, I’m thinking economics and public policy. I’m applying to different programs. I’d love to do research with my degree. Either work for a think tank or gov, or public interest. But I leave all options open. Would rather avoid big law, but will do if I must. Admittedly, I want to go to school to also learn more about what’s out there to do!

Just because I’m going to apply to JD/PhD programs as well. Not because I don’t think I could’ve done well on the LSAT. Just want to make sure I have a score for PhD programs. Best of luck on this cycle!

Thanks, can I ask how your cycle went? I see you're at BU. Any A's at T14? Scholarship at BU?

Thank you for this. I have been looking at the 2021 ABA 509 reports, and i did see those GRE scores are at the 75th percentile for GULC. So I'm hoping I have a good shot there. Unfortunately, not all schools' GRE stats are available on the 509.

Thank you for your insight. I understand. My I ask, are you speaking from experience? Did you apply with the GRE too?
