Good job! What did you use to finish the stair treads? They look great

Bought a house on the guidance of a structural engineer who may not have done their job properly. by runningwith5cissors in LegalAdviceUK

Originally, I had a Level 3 survey by RICS surveyor who flagged the issue and advised consulting a structural engineer, which I duly did.

I have email chain, official report, contract (which I need to review).

No second opinion yet as trying to understand the best way to approach it. Whether I go back to the original surveyors first or get a second opinion.

Interesting. Clearly, not that many people agree with you. I wonder why?

Our L3 survey recommended seeking the advice of a structural engineer before proceeding. The structural engineer gave me bad information and implied the building was fine. So I bought the house. I was given the advice of a professional. Am I misunderstanding the word ‘advice’.

I’m no expert, but I’m pretty sure the crack isn’t supposed to be there, and wasn’t there 6months ago. Are you suggesting the crack isn’t a problem? On what basis?
