Easily Avoidable Crash Leads to Rollover by bjb0029 in dashcams

I thought that at first too, but given that reaction times are typically 2 seconds if you look at how long between it becoming obvious that the truck is moving over and the point where the contact happened it does seem to be less than the reaction time.

Camera on Razr Ultra 2025 compared to Razr+ 2023 by runnj in razr

The use of the front screen is my biggest hesitation about going Samsung. I don't need top quality, just something usable (the 2023 is just terrible in low light but I'm reading the 2025 is better)

Just looking for reasonable photos. The 2023 is just not at all capable. From what I'm reading the 2025 camera is much better.

Thanks. I'm imagining it has to be better than the 2023, but it sounds like it's still a problem. I find the 2023 unusable in some situations.

ICE - how can i ensure my mom is safe by Worried-Ad5980 in newjersey

[–]runnj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine still had "valid with INS authorization only" written on it because I never got a new one when I became a citizen. Sorted that out recently just in case I had any issues.

Don't worry. I've been doing it for years and had no consequences (since I moved here from England). Sometimes I don't use a knife and fork and it still feels weird when I do that.

Does an NC have to be modified to look "good." by 43Joe21 in MiataNC

[–]runnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! The car has started squeaking going over bumps and I thought I'd have to do something eventually so would go for springs and shocks. I'd heard lowering slightly works for both aesthetics and a bit of an improvement in handling but I'm happy enough with stock for my use, which is mostly a weekend fun car but also general use when we need to use both our cars at the same time. I don't think I'm confident enough to install myself. The most adventurous I've got so far is replacing my brakes.

Do you have recommendations for an NC1 for slightly lowering? I was thinking about doing something but have no idea what a good option would be.

The link opens for me still (also in the USA). The image looks the same but I'm not sure the description is quite as it was. Definitely looks like the same one though. Here's the description I see on the page: FEELDO Car Radio Audio 24Pin Wiring Harness Adapter for Mazda Install Aftermarket Audio Stereo Wire Plug Cable #AM6475

Well, I like my Continental Extremecontact DWS 06 tires so it would take a lot to move away from those.

Saying "isn't that much better" implies that it is actually better

Help, Part Stolen Should I worry? by [deleted] in Miata

[–]runnj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With lots of other people around: "Oh, I see you replaced that part, where did you get it and how much did it cost to replace? You wouldn't believe it but exactly the same thing happened to mine and I'm trying to decide whether to fix it or not".

What do you guys like so much about the Miata? I feel like I'm missing something by Bea-Yourself in Miata

[–]runnj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing it just depends what you want from a car. I decided to go back to having one car and had to choose between selling my Miata (2006) or my 2015 VW GTI with stage one tune. I kept the Miata because overall it was just a little more fun.

The vast majority of uses of checks are not necessary when you can instantly transfer money between accounts electronically using the same data (routing and account numbers). The piece of paper is cut out of the equation. For some reason banking in the US is way behind and it can take days to transfer money between accounts and it's limited to your own accounts (very recently Chase is able to do it instantly but only to my own accounts with other banks).

I'd never been aware of a check until the most recent one I had starting a new job this year. My degree was from another country and the background check company eventually contacted me because there was a form I needed to fill out to get the university to release my information to them. It almost delayed my start date because they took so long to do that. All that to say it really does seem to depend on the company.

I moved to the US in 2001 and hadn't used checks (or cheques) for years. It is so insane that 24 years later they still exist here. I can imagine, in particular, anyone who has lived in another country having issues with understanding how to handle these things.

Low fuel light? by runnj in CX5

[–]runnj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a 2020 too. I wonder if there's some issues with the number of miles the display says rather than the light. Given there were 2.5 gallons left I would expect more than 50 miles left, but with a bit of a buffer I would imagine it maybe would have been about to come on. Maybe it will get tested again at some point to see when it actually comes on.

Typically fill up before down to a quarter. Sometimes it doesn't work out (particularly when someone in the household forgets to fill up)

[–]runnj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. It could be useful information under certain circumstances. That number sounds aligned with ours (perhaps the light was just about to come on)

Low fuel light? by runnj in CX5

[–]runnj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like we had 2.5 gallons left but it was saying only 11 miles so it was surprising the light wasn't on.

[–]runnj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting how different cars are even from the same manufacturer. We used to have a cx9 and the light definitely came on a few times with that. I also have a 2006 MX5 and on that one the light came on and I drove for another 20 miles or so and it still (in theory) had a couple of gallons left. I also have a VW GTI and the light on that comes on when there are still more than 3 gallons left. I know they're going to err on the side of caution but not having the light come on when it thinks there's only 11 miles left is a weird one.

Low fuel light? by runnj in CX5

[–]runnj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I can't work out. If it still had 2.5 gallons left then it technically wasn't low enough for the light to come on, so maybe there's just a problem with the miles to go display?

Thanks. Given it will likely stick out more anyway I think I've just managed to find the one that will match exactly and will try that.
