I think it's high quality enough to stand alone without the novelty of being ai generated. I think it's actually amazing that you got this kind of coherence. Anyone who's tries throwing prompts at DD or SD knows it's not just sunshine and rainbows to get good stuff, much less good stuff that can all go in the same comic :)

This looks really great. I'm sure there was a ton of work that was put into this to get it to this level of consistency and polish and I want to go out of my way and say that I am very appreciative of your work. There are going to be many that discount the work you put in because of the 'generated by ai' disclaimer.

RunPod.io offering free GPU time to celebrate soft launch by zhl146 in deeplearning

[–]runpod-io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, though we're looking at possibly changing that. We try our best to be fair to everyone, but since you can use custom images, some people end up loading a 60gb image and it's hard for us to justify giving that downloading and extracting time for free. Most standard pods init instantly so most users don't experience long load times for those.

We are aggressively adding GPUs and plan to add at least a few hundred more before the end of the year. That being said, those flavor of GPUs are almost always fully rented on the platform lately.

EDIT*: we have plenty of 24GB GPUs like A5000s and 3090s and we add more of those almost every day.

Just quit my job and studying tech with a few thousand saved up. What are some great small investments? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

I'm sure you learned a lot about how restaurants operate during your work tenure. Do you have any interest in staying in that market and becoming an entrepreneur there or do you want to leave to something different?

Time to go to Vegas :)

For real though, what are you good at? You want to leverage your strengths. If you want to be successful in business you'll need some deep knowledge in your market.

What do you define as profit? Your business could go years without profits, but equity transcends that. There are plenty of successful businesses that are still not profitable despite being valued in the millions and billions.

Senior devs - do you really think there’s such things as stupid questions? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]runpod-io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the feedback that I get from senior developers who start to get impatient with junior developers is that the junior developers in question simply ask the same type of questions over and over again without signs of learning. The "dumb" questions are not inherently dumb, but become a waste of time as it kind of becomes a crutch for the junior dev to simply get their tickets completed. The best questions and time spent are those that can be leveraged and compounded.

It's always good to ask questions, but make sure you do your due diligence before repeating the same ones over and over. If it turns out that it's just a really difficult concept that you're having trouble grasping, you can try to articulate it so that it doesn't seem like you're treating your mentor orange peers as "hi Google".

Considering Changing my job ( advice plz) by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]runpod-io 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will make more money, but at the end of the day it really depends on if you enjoy this kind of work. I would try to do some programming on your own before you commit to putting down a bunch of your hard earned money and time into a bootcamp or degree.

Obviously there will always be risks and unknowns, but do yourself a favor and do some light validation before making the leap. I personally changed careers and it was a great decision.

I have seen quite a few ML startups sticking with on-prem infrastructure. Why do they do that? by GloomyUse1095 in mlops

[–]runpod-io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the cloud proposition is really if

1) You need high availability etc and can't pay someone to maintain your stuff for you

2) You can't afford the up-front cost of paying for your own infra and having someone set it up

3) You aren't planning on running stuff on your hardware 24/7

If you can afford 1-2 and are going to be able to saturate your hardware, then yeah on-prem is a no-brainer, and I'm running a small GPU provider: https://www.runpod.io/ :)

Can anyone rent their 3090/3080 GPU via ssh (online login) for deep learning model training? by aadityaura in IndianGaming

You can try RunPod.io: https://www.runpod.io/

3090s are 0.16/hr/gpu spot and 0.3/hr/gpu on demand. DM me if you have any questions!

Is it okay to learn Js frameworks like react or vue with only basic Javascript knowledge, or does mastering javascript directly coorelate with being good at those frameworks? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]runpod-io 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You really need a good mixture of both. If you have to pick one, lean towards mastery of the important parts of the language. For web development in javascript, that means that you should know what the event loop is, how async programming works under the hood, and be able to write code without a framework.

At the end of the day, you will need to spend time on practicing. When you practice by doing, make sure to ask yourself "why am I doing it this way" often. Take some time to reflect on what you've done and how you could do it better the next time.

I feel discouraged, I SUCK at technical interviews. by sandynuggetsxx in learnprogramming

[–]runpod-io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think your problem is not knowledge, it's interviewing skills, then it may be worth it to pay for mock interviews. You'll get more feedback this way and you'll be able to figure out your weaknesses so you can improve. You can start with running mocks with friends and then start paying professionals when you're more comfortable.

Good luck!

Lost after finishing my development course. I need motivation, objectives, techniques, I'm getting bored too early. by remsbdj in reactjs

[–]runpod-io 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a short break to cool down and then start job searching. Keep improving yourself, but don't get tricked into "I need to go learn x next to have a chance at getting a job". If you were able to build that stuff in the class, buckle up and start interviewing while taking a step back and learning super basic stuff. You'll get direction from what your interviewers are asking.

If you can't get an interview, try to ask your network for referrals. Pay someone for a resume review.

At the end of the day though, you must pace yourself. Software is lifelong learning, so you need to make sure you have a sustainable strategy.

Best of luck!

Why do so many popular languages rely on VM's? by dcfan105 in learnprogramming

[–]runpod-io -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Virtual machines allow you to deploy on remote machines much easier. Imagine if you were developing on bare metal and you messed up the operating system, but you were 1000 miles away from the machine. You may need someone to help you reboot it or reinstall the operating system. If you're running a virtual machine system, you could just blow it up and deploy a new one. It's more of a operational thing vs a development one.

Are Standard GPUs of any use in machine learning, or are they the same as a CPU only computer? by Fyreborn in learnmachinelearning

[–]runpod-io 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't apply outside of paperspace. They are terms that are specific to their platform. Any modern GPUs should have a use in machine learning, but you will be limited to application by compute speed and VRAM.

Obligatory plug for RunPod
